I have plenty of opinions about music, but I don't care for another opinion war topic today. One thing I will say is this, either a service is alive or it isn't, no matter the music style.

I agree and disagree with the blogger. I think that some worship music is absolute tripe, BUT some is fantastic. The blogger was complaining about the repetition, but the angels circle around God proclaiming, "Holy, holy, holy" and they don't seem to mind. In fact, they find something revelatory about God every time they circle the throne. Repetition facilitates prayer. When your brain can turn off, and you no longer have to focus on the words, then you can begin to pray more fervently during worship.

ok...that's just a smidgen of my opinion...almost bedtime here.

I don't know about where you all are at, but the Christian radio stations around here basically have their "Top 40" songs which they play over and over and over, just like the secular stations do. That has always been a beef with me, when there are thousands of songs out there. None of these local stations dare play any Jesus Culture or Kim Walker Smith or the old Vinyard worship music. Probably why I choose to listen to MP3s or CDs instead of the radio most of the time. Same goes for their chosen preachers. You get Charles Stanley and Chuck Swindol. I don't think they could even handle David Wilkerson or Carter Conlon. Radio is part of the problem, not part of the solution. Just my humble .02 of course.

Some are tripe..I agree and add even some of the old hymns in many hymnals today are not doctrinal sound...

I agree that the concept of repetition in scripture is not addressing repetition in general..it is chanting prayers repetitiously in unbelief, if I recall the context?
