I am in recovery and getting better everyday. The head nurse in charge of house visitation graduated me from in-house special care and physical therapy today. I will know more February 7th, 8th, and 13th when I meet with neurologists and get another cat scan on my brain to see what kind of condition it's in. I have some minor memory loss and have to concentrate more than before when carrying on a conversation. I have turned this whole matter over to the Lord and am believing He will bring me to a full recovery. Thanks for your prayers and concern. I will update you when I know more as this current situation I find myself in unfolds.

This morning I was scheduled for an MRI at 7am.
I arrived early, was taken back to a changing room to put on pajama bottoms and a gown.
I was then taken to the MRI room and put on a gurney before being slid into the cylinder.
But before they could put me into the hallow tube, they had to lock me into a fully enclosed head brace with a small window in front my eyes.
They slid me into this tight tube and I lost it. I am claustrophobic and I was pressing the hand held button to let me out.
The only way I could describe it was like being buried alive inside a coffin.
I had to reschedule the MRI and call my Doctor to prescribe me a sedative that will calm me down so I can get through the procedure.
I got the medication this afternoon and am rescheduled to go back Monday at 10AM to attempt the MRI again.
The nurse said this is common for people to have a panic attack the first time going into the tube.
I think I could have handled just the tube.
But the enclosed head brace and being shoved into the tube with this device on was more than I could handle.
I ask you to say a prayer for me to get through this MRI Monday 2-13-23 without any further problems.
The whole procedure takes 40 minutes. I also have to wear ear cushions because of the noise. This doesn't add any relaxation to this 40 minute test.
Thanks for listening to my concerns (fears) and for your prayers. Mike

Mike, Is an open MRI is an option? No tube.

I don't think so. When I was in the MRI room, there was only one completely rounded tube. I did ask if I had to have the head enclosure on and they said yes.
I don't understand why they can't give me a shot to put me to sleep?
My doctor on Friday after I failed to complete the MRI prescribed me 2 valiums. I'm supposed to take one pill an hour before the appointment, and another if needed before I enter the chamber. I don't mean to blow this whole thing out of proportion, I'm sure there are lot's of people who could go through this test without no problems. The whole thing about me going through this test is the fear of enclosed tight spaces. Remember Danny in the "Great Escape", when he freaked out in the tunnel? Oh well, I will somehow try and do this.

I understand as I am claustrophobic and last year had to have the same MRI. Part of me began to get anxious and thought about a sedative.

Internally I was nervous but kept calling for God's strength and made it through. I would ask for a sedative if I had to go through it again

I know in my area there are several MRI providers, some have an open MRI machine.

In any event, I will pray, I rebuke fear right now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!

Thanks John for the encouragement and prayers. I know that this procedure may not seem like a big deal to some, but I claim "That I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
