Excellent question. Ice allows you to get right where the fish are and is very nice for those without a boat. And the appeal. There is nothing like hauling fish up on the ice. Big fish.Originally Posted by fuego

And once you're set up, you wait for the fish to come in. It's the ultimate in still fishing. There really is a special thrill being out on the ice. When using technology like an underwater camera it really changes the game. Seeing the big yellow eyes of a big pike slowly drift into view is just thrilling.
