Do We Hate Dishonesty as God Does? - The Stream


I voted in person on Tuesday because I thought that was the safest way to do it. But, after going through the process, I realized that it was far from the truth.

I remember during the primary in June this year I was asked to first find my name and address among a list and sign next to my name. Then I had to show my driver's license that matched my name and address. Maybe, because back then the fight was within the party, it was better to apply strict rules to get the true picture which would help fight enemies without during the midterm.


Making Room for Fraud

However, five months later after the primary, the rules are different. Why? Perhaps in order to fight enemies without, rules must be loosened, making room for fraud. This time, an ID is not required. A lady looked at my original mail-in ballot. The only question she asked was if the address is correct. I thought how in the world would she know that I was the right person? I could have voted on someone else's behalf, a dead person, or a person who had moved away.

God hates fraud. God hates dishonest scales. God hates lying tongues. Do we hate dishonesty as God does?

I was then sent to the next person who asked me whether I wanted to vote through a touch screen and then print the result before putting it in a designated box or manually select my candidates on a new ballot. After a few exchanges I realized that all the options literally made no difference. They were there as part of the sham show, pretending that the ruling party of this blue state had taken this election seriously. Really?!

I'm not fooled. Any person or entity, who wants to protect the integrity of the voting process, would at a minimum require a voter ID. But the ruling party of my blue state has purposely eliminated this basic requirement and filled the process with inconsequential activities, leaving the false impression that they are serious about a legitimate and accurate count for the midterm.

My husband told me that he took out his driver's license and attempted twice to show the poll worker, but she purposely diverted her eyes and would not look at it. Why? There were multiple drop boxes inside and out. I could have harvested ballots and dropped them there. No one could have stopped me.


'The Emperor's Clothes Are Beautiful!'

While in the voting center, my mind went through different possible ways to cheat, provided by these intentionally designed voting laws. I felt I was playing a role in a drama. It was not real. Everyone was pretending. Yet, it was real. That made me sick, as if watching a naked emperor and being forced to participate in shouting, "The emperor's clothes are beautiful!" My sense of veracity was violated.

I heard that Chinese have tremendous endurance, tolerating evil imposed on them. This often shocks and puzzles westerners. One answer is that the CCP, after gaining power, eradicated all religions, leaving China as a moral desert. Since a firm belief in absolute truth is the prerequisite for courage, atheist Chinese often prefer safety over contending for truth because of their ambivalence towards moral issues.


We The People

But we are not atheists! We who claim to uphold absolute truth should not tolerate evil as the atheists do.

But you say, "I believe in Romans 13 which requires us to obey the government. The first Christians obeyed even Nero, a wicked and cruel emperor."

Well said. I believe in Romans 13 too.

But don't we know that in His sovereignty, God has given us an unprecedented system that was unthinkable in the Apostle Paul's time? We the people, American citizens, are the government. Don't we know that geographically and historically there has never been another nation like America? Don't we know that God has put power in our hands as He did with Nero? Don't we know that we can do for righteousness through our system what Nero could do for evil through his authority?

Yes, I believe in Roman 13 and it tells me that the purpose of the government is to do good. Don't we know that we, being the government, obey Romans 13 by using our unparalleled power and responsibility to do good including fighting what is evil?

God hates fraud. God hates dishonest scales. God hates lying tongues. Do we hate dishonesty as God does? If we did, we would stand up against electoral fraud. But unfortunately, not only have we applied Romans 13 incorrectly in our situation, but we also lack courage to stand up, undermining the moral principles of the Gospel.

Electoral integrity is the linchpin and keystone of our constitutional republic, without which our system will not function and will soon collapse. Even if we select a perfect candidate who sprints fast, he will never reach the finish line on time and claim victory as long as we allow electoral fraud to continue. Unless we ensure electoral integrity, any of our effort in an election will be in vain.

In the past, with God's help, American Christians have courageously achieved unthinkable feats. Now, facing the challenge of this constitutional crisis, electoral fraud, we must carry on that tradition. If we have enough Christians to stand up, we can change our state and our nation, passing new laws to secure the voting process, because even in the bluest state, when Christians arise, even demons will tremble.
