Thread: Women Who Vote GOP Are 'Like Roaches Voting for Raid': The View Host

Female pro-life leaders are criticizing Sunny Hostin of The View after she said women who vote Republican are like "roaches voting for Raid."

The issue of abortion, Hostin said, should determine how women vote.

"I read a poll just yesterday that white Republican suburban women are now going to vote Republican. It's almost like roaches voting for Raid," Hostin, a co-host, said on the show. "They're voting against their own self-interest. Do they want to live in Gilead? Do they want to live in The Handmaid's Tale?"

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who served in the Trump administration and who is pro-life, pushed back. Griffin is another co-host on the popular show.

"People make up decisions on what's right for their family and the idea that you should have a say for everyone else ..." Griffin said.

A 2022 Gallup poll showed that one-third (33 percent) of American women identify as pro-life. Only 38 percent of women say abortion should be "legal under any" circumstances.

Lila Rose, president and founder of the pro-life group Live Action, criticized Griffin.

"People vote their values," Rose tweeted. "Women are not cockroaches for voting their values on human life @Sunny Hostin. What is inhumane is voting to legalize killing a child in the womb up until the day of their birthday."

Religious people, Hostin said, should keep their views on abortion private. Live Action, though, said abortion "isn't a religious issue for many people" who identify as pro-life.

"It's one of science, which is why there are increasing numbers of secular pro-life activists. A preborn child is a human being, and every single human being is unique and has the intrinsic right to life," Live Action said. "And induced abortion – the intentional killing of a human being before birth – is not medically necessary, and it is not 'health care.' Hostin's comparison of pro-life women to roaches simply because she disagrees with them is grossly insulting – and flat-out wrong."
