    A normal house? 3 Million & up.

    What about you?
Is that one in Silicon Valley? The tech people who work in those companies are earning huge salaries and driving up prices. Unfortunately, "normal folks" who earn normal salaries are completely priced out of the market. Also, my understanding is that California has very restrictive zoning that blocks the construction of affordable housing.

Here in NJ the prices are high but no where near those of Silicon Valley. And, due to an NJ Supreme Court ruling, every town is required to make space available for affordable housing. So, even in wealthy towns, you'll see plenty of mansions but also condo/townhouse complexes and apartments.
