    100 Years Ago for the fourth week of April 1922, from the pages of the Greeley Tribune-Republican newspaper:


    In Genoa, both the United States and Europe are demanding that Russia settle its war debts and restitution for all the property it took.

    It rained so hard yesterday in Koeta, that they had to call off school for the day. It started raining hard at 4:30 in the morning and continued through the day.

    A Greeley woman appeared before the Lunacy Commission and was found to be in trouble. She was taken to the hospital, but escaped and was found a few days later in Loveland, where she appeared again before another Lunacy Commission.

    A strange new game has been introduced in Tokyo. It's called Japanese Polo, and is a combination of polo, golf LaCross, billiards and even football. It is very dangerous to the players.

    Regardless of the complaints he receives, the Superintendent of Schools here emphasized that good teachers are not overpaid.

    A group of six robbers, terrorizing the plains states, were finally captured by the law and found to be an all-woman gang, dressed in men's clothing.

    Several students were happy with Monday's lunch at the Ault school kitchens. It consisted of celery soup and cottage pudding.

    In Snyder, the local American Legion set up a display in the window of the Snyder Drug Store. There were many rifles and hand guns on display in the drug store.

    EDITORIAL: The Department of Agriculture has been estimating what crops will sell the best in the fall and farmers are expected to raise those crops to make the most money. However, the department's committee has often been wrong and farmers lost money. The Dept. of Ag is paid through taxes, and the way they are working, we just should send our tax money to Liberia.

    The Evans City Assessor has been endeavoring this week to find out how rich the people of Evans are. Most of us feel quite poor at this time of year.

    Some visitors from Fort Collins were very frightened by a Greeley Police officer this week. The officer had a defective shogun and was carrying it to the gun shop while walking downtown. The carload of Fort Collins people drove past him and then drove past a Standing street car. It's illegal to pass a stopped street car. The officer, with shotgun in hand, took the Collins people to court and they were fined by a judge. They all said they were afraid the officer was going to shoot them with his shotgun.
