    100 Years Ago for the first week of April 1922, from the pages of the Greeley Tribune-Republican newspaper.


    To remove grease from your wallpaper, soak a cloth in high-grade gasoline and press it against the wallpaper for a minute. Do this repeatedly, because a single application will only remove part of the grease.

    Weld County research shows farmers and ranchers in this area will pay 33 percent less income tax than last year. That's because of the low income for farmers and ranchers this year.

    Denver and Frederick police are searching for an 18-year-old man who left his Denver home this week to drive to Frederick where he works. He never arrived at work and has been missing for three days.

    The building of the new hospital in Greeley is almost finished, and hospital officials are asking that lodges, societies or individuals contribute to furnishing the rooms as a donation to the hospital.

    At the local creamery, the cost of butter has gone up 1 cent. There is a steadier thought about butter and creamery products now.

    G.L. Gabler of Ault accompanied his cattle when they were shipped by rail to California. He will visit with relatives in Los Angeles.

    Kid Evans of Windsor beat Kid Mex of Eaton in a wrestling battle which took only nine minutes. Kid Evans used a stranglehold to win the match.

    William Held, formerly a Windsor blacksmith, went to Russia to help his father, who is ill. He sent a letter back to Windsor asking for help because he, his father and seven children are starving and can't afford food.

    A Greeley man got a light sentence for selling illegal booze. He has a wife and baby at home, and they have no means of support. He was supposed to get 90 days in jail, but the judge gave him only 30 so he could get out early and support his family.

    Thieves backed a truck up to a tire store Monday night and loaded 30 new tires in the truck. Neither the truck nor the tires have been found since.

    A former Greeley man was arrested for operating a still of booze north of Fort Collins. He said he had to sell the booze because of his bad luck lately. He was injured when a tire exploded in his face, his arm was broken and then his fiancé broke off her engagement with him.

    Nevermind that your livingroom smells like the garage. Hope they didn't use that corncob pipe for a while.
