    Phone updates & hidden tracers?

A friend just asked me the following:

Do you know any iPhone apps that spy on you or have those hidden agendas (covid tracking, FB spying, etc)? I've been avoiding an update because there are a lot of these things that I've opted out of over the years. I have to update my phone now so I need all the walkthroughs I can find!

Anyone got insight? I told her I haven't updated my iPhone for for a couple years for that very reason. So any info would be helpful.

I also know we can be very easily tracked and spied on from our phones. I've heard we're not safe even when our phones are turned off.

    TIA ...

    I like these guys

this one is good for battery life (and privacy)

I think the thing you're talking about is that the phone can still be tracked if it's turned off. I have mixed feelings about that one. If someone is being searched for "like Gabby Petito" it would be helpful to be able to track a dead iPhone. So, I'm still thinking about that one.

I did the first video. I always decline when an app asks, but I didn't know that just disallowing all was there.

I did what the 2nd vid was saying and found I'd already disabled tracking. It was off. Cool. Can't remember when I did that.
