Australian 'Kelpie' Sheep Dog Sold for $35000

Just broke the World record for a working dog. These 'Kelpies' were bred down here, intelligent, fast and loyal.

Our family had one but she died in 2012 . We paid $150 . She was a great family dog but too spoilt to be a good sheep dog

Victorian Kelpie working dog sold for record breaking amount

The price of dogs, in general has skyrocketed here. Even cross breeds are in the 2-3$thousand range. People seem to be trying to create new crosses and then charge like crazy for them. I love Pekingese, so when I was looking at them online a few weeks ago, $3000 for a Peke, shihtzu, bichon mix. Insane.

However, both hubby and I, having grown up on farms with cattle, and his family still has cattle, know how important a good working dog is. Saves a lot of time and frustration. $35,000 worth though? Not sure about that, but maybe, in a huge sheep operation. Jesus didn't call us sheep for no reason.

Same down here, the price of dogs have gone crazy. It's a big rip off yet many are even paying $1000+ and some up to $3000

But a good working dog is worth many human workers especially with the large sheep farms we have
