    100 Years Ago, for the second week of April 1921, from the pages of the Greeley Tribune-Republican newspaper:


    During last week's windstorm, a man leaving Greeley found a black hat belonging to a woman. It's been turned over to the police, and to retrieve it, contact the police chief.

    Announcing the opening of the Auto Laundry, 518 8th Ave. We wash or grease cars, drain crankcases, clean upholstery. Efficient service, night or day. "We know how."

    Bill Nunn of Greeley's east side, was arrested after a family fight last night. He told police he got angry when family members criticized his father, who met death by hanging. This angered Nunn, and he attacked the other family members.

    Since last year, Greeley's population increased by 75 persons. That puts Greeley at a population of 10,958, the fifth largest city in the state.

    Boys living by the railroad station have gotten in trouble with their .22 rifle. They shot out the window of a passing train. The day before, they shot one boy named "Blue" in the bridge of the nose. He is all right, but the police are investigating.

    Advertisement: "Special note to the finder of My Lady's Latchkey, please return it. Don't ask me how I lost it. It opens the door to romance, mystery and love. $500 reward. K. MacDonald."

    At the Adams Ranch near Seeley Lake, two cats had kittens. A few days later, the rancher found five abandoned rabbit bunnies in a hole. He brought them home, and within a day, they were all "adopted" by the new mother cats. All are doing well now.

    All of Greeley is invited to an outdoor revival Wednesday night at the corner of 9th Street and 7th Avenue. The subjects will be "The Unpardonable Sin," and "If I Die and Lose My Soul, Who Cares?"

    Weld County Commissioner D.S. Straight has other things to worry about in addition to his official duties. Mumps has broken out in his family on the ranch near Purcell. Two of the children have mumps and he is concerned for all of their 10 children on the ranch.

    At the Shacklee farm near Hudson, Mrs. Shacklee was oiling the kitchen floor with oil heated on the stove. The oil caught fire, and set fire to her clothing. Instead of running to her husband in the field, Mrs. Shacklee jumped in bed and covered herself with blanket, smothering the flames. It saved her life.
