Maskless confrontation at Canadian Tire investigated as assault

This makes me angry. You are gonna treat a person like this just because they don't have a mask on in your store? The world has gone woke and mad. I seriously cannot understand this mentality. Should he have left when asked to leave? Yep. But you still don't do this. Unfortunately it appears to be assault charges against the maskless man. "That's when he allegedly, at this point, assaulted a couple of the staff members." Yeah, I'm sure it was after they tried to accost him and drag him out. He more than likely doesn't 'assault' if he's not touched in the first place.

Go to the link and watch the video. Makes my blood boil.
    ___________

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – A man who refused to wear a mask inside a Burnaby Canadian Tire store on Monday is at the centre of an assault investigation.

Video of the incident has been widely shared online and it appears to show a man being surrounded by staff at the store. Before the man attempts to get away, the employees pin him down and try to put handcuffs on him.

"My human rights are trumping your bullsh– mask mandates," the man yells at one point in the video.

Burnaby RCMP's Cpl. Mike Kalanj says Mounties had received a call from staff members at the store who said the man would not put on a mask and would not leave.

"When he said no, they decided that they were going to escort him out. That's when he allegedly, at this point, assaulted a couple of the staff members. That's of course when the video starts and the altercation happens," he tells NEWS 1130.

When police arrived on the scene, the staff members had the man pinned down and officers took over from there.

Kalanj says the video only captured the aftermath of the situation and the investigation is ongoing. He notes police are investigating this situation as an for assault and they weren't called there for a public health violation.

The man was arrested and released a few hours later with a court date.

This crap has gone way too far. I had coffee today with an old friend whose son called the cops on them because their daughter (his sister) flew in for Christmas from Ontario to Alberta.

As far as the OP, of course they'll charge the guy who wouldn't mask up. They have to keep people in fear.

Is there some type of rule against traveling from Ontario to Alberta?

There are province to province restrictions requiring 14 day quarantine each way.

Each time I read the stories, and the government websites on travel in and out of Ontario (and other Canadian cities), I'm wondering in how many YEARS Canada will open up to travel - and not only Canada, but the entire world.

Yesterday I saw a car with an Ontario license plate and wanted so badly to believe that things were opening up. Likely the person driving it is an essential worker here in Michigan.
