Here in Norway gas stations speculate in having prices fluctuate wildly according to when people are likely to visit. I've seen prices vary from 5.18 to 7.10 on the same day.

Cheapest we've ever gotten gas with the Kroger discount. Finally had enough points to get a dollar off. Woo hoo!

Tomorrow the 4x fuel points expires for gift cards. So we went in today and got groceries and bought gift cards for Christmas. Our gift cards alone today got 500 points (50 cents off gas) plus we had bought a few last week too along with groceries. That came to $1.00 off. Gas was $2.18, so with the discount, $1.18 a gallon.

    Well done!

I went to Kroger late last night and got in on that gift card offer too. I also did a fill up at $2.05 and while I do have 300 points hanging I didn't use them yet as I had half a tank of gas...just wanted to top it off since we have a potentially big snow storm coming tomorrow. I'll use those points later in the month after I run the gas down to under a quarter tank.

Michigan had an increase in gas taxes at the beginning of the year...metro Detroit is averaging around $2.29.

In December, our gas was 85.9 cents/litre ($3.25/US gal) and the week before Christmas it jumped to $1.05.9/litre ($4/US gal) and has since dropped to $1.02.9/litre ($3.35/US gal).

Our province implemented a "carbon tax" as of Jan 1. So we'll see how things pan out.

    And welcome to LFF, KellyMarie!
