Guess they don't want you spreading this stuff. I think I've seen it before though.

Instead of having a seeking attitude for truth you immediately ridicule ... how is that Berean
BTW it took a few seconds to find it on YouTube so obviously no one is stopping this video

My comments don't necessarily mean I endorse this video

    so much for impartiality.

But as LH decided to impartially start this thread let's have an impartial comparison of the two guys just mentioned.

    John McArthur
    Time in Ministry: 42 years
    Salary: now about $160,000
    Books written: 150+
    Worth: About $14-15m

    Some of John's Books:

    • Twelve Extraordinary Women
    • The Jesus You Can't Ignore
    • Preaching: How to Preach Biblically
    • Parables: The Mysteries of God's Kingdom Revealed Through the Stories Jesus Told
    • Sanctification: God's Passion for His People
    • Hard to Believe: The High Cost and Infinite Value of Following Jesus
    • Worship: The Ultimate Priority
    • The Gospel according to Jesus
    • The Gospel according to God
    • The Gospel according to Paul
    • The Gospel according to the Apostles
    • The Shepherd as Preacher: Delivering God's Word with Passion and Power
    • Ashamed of the Gospel: When the Church Becomes Like the World
    • The Upper Room: Jesus' Parting Promises for Troubled Hearts

so John's books are around the Gospel and preaching and Jesus. And look at that one, "Hard to Believe: The High Cost and Infinite Value of Following Jesus". Have you read that? It's only $12 as an e-book. I'll have to get it.

    Joel Olsen
    Time in Ministry: 22 years
    Salary: about $200,000
    Books written: 17
Worth: $40-60m (though one site says $100m)

    All of Joel's Books:

    • Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential (2004)
    • Become a Better You: 7 Keys to Improving Your Life Every Day (2007)[66]
    • Your Best Life Begins Each Morning: Devotions to Start Every Day of the Year (2008)
    • Good, Better, Blessed: Living with Purpose, Power and Passion (2008)
    • Hope for Today Bible (2009)
    • It's Your Time : Activate Your Faith, Achieve Your Dreams, and Increase in God's Favor (2009)[67]
    • Living in Favor, Abundance and Joy (2010)
    • Every Day a Friday: How to Be Happier 7 Days a Week (2011)[68]
    • I Declare: 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life (2012)
    • Break Out!: 5 Keys to Go Beyond Your Barriers and Live an Extraordinary Life (2013)
    • You Can, You Will: 8 Undeniable Qualities of a Winner (2014)
    • The Power of I Am: Two Words That Will Change Your Life Today (2015)
    • Think Better, Live Better: A Victorious Life Begins in Your Mind (2016)
    • Blessed in the Darkness: How All Things Are Working for Your Good (2017)
    • Next Level Thinking: 10 Powerful Thoughts for a Successful and Abundant Life (2018)
    • The Power of Favor: The Force That Will Take You Where You Can't Go on Your Own (2019)
    • Empty Out The Negative: Make Room for More Joy, Greater Confidence, and New Levels of Influence (2020)

Joel's books are all about you and how great you can be. They don't seem to quite line up with Jesus' statement that "If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me" do they.

But I'll let you decide which one will help you most as you attempt to draw nearer to Jesus, as you do the good works God has prepared for you, and will get your spirit the best it can be for when you pass into eternity hoping to hear Jesus say "well done good and faithful servant".

I know tT-20%, but I think I've seen the video, and as for seeking the truth, LH is like the MSM on Trump, "Trump = bad <full stop>" so for LH "JMac = bad <full stop>" and so although some (most?) of the stuff on the video will be true I'm expecting it to be twisted as well as MSM does.

I haven't an hour+ to listen to it (again?), but it starts off wrong anyway. It starts off "Mr anti-prosperity himself appears to be living the lavish millionaire lifestyle of your run-of-the-mill prosperity preacher".

John is not anti-prosperity. He simply doesn't believe the false message that "financial blessing and physical well-being are always the will of God for (Christians), and that faith, positive speech, and donations to religious causes will increase one's material wealth". That sounds more like an extract from Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich".

You want financial prosperity, don't talk about it, work for 40 years, not wasting your money on non-necessities.

Joel Osteen's salary isn't $200,000. He hasn't taken any salary since 2005. And while his topics might seem self-centered, John MacArthur promotes limited atonement and Lordship Salvation. I'll take Osteen over Johnny Mac any day.

Not to mention his dad John Osteen never took a salary either.

And as the article showed, MacArthur's combined salaries are well over half a mil, not $160K.

And in theory JMac should be in that list too.

Not sure which "the article" you're talking about is, but that's our problem in believing the internet. I saw that figure for his Church salary, which I presume is for his 25-30 hours of Bible study a week and his preaching. As I said, I saw multiple "worth" figures for Osteen.

But from the little bit of the original video I've seen, IMO, it's not addressing the real issue. I don't believe JMac has any problem being prosperous. What I think he objects to is the idea of saying that everyone can/should be prosperous, and that works including "faith, positive speech, and donations to religious causes will increase one's material wealth" without having to get out there and actually generate something, without working and generating an income.

Why doesn't John Mac give everything away because Jesus also said that in the scriptures.

Its easy to quote verses and demand everyone else act it out but there are plenty of verses wealthy successful Calvinists ignore.
Did Jesus or the apostles have a swimming pool?
