So, by definition, you are not observing segregation. Segregation is APART, not together at all. Do you also have separate drinking fountains?

Public schools are generally set up that way, geographically. We experimented with busing in the 60's but it was an abject failure.

In direct answer to your question, in order to attend a school that is not in your district, you must request permission. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Imagine what happens when a black family requests permission from a white principal who may have racist tendencies? In order to attend a school with no one able to say, "no" you have to live in that district. That's the thing....why should a black/white/yellow/green/purple person have to move to a district that has the better school?

That's because the public mindset was different in the 60's. I think we're ready to try something new.

There is also a lot of residence fraud that goes on. Students will claim residence in a particular neighborhood, perhaps using a relatives or an acquaintances address in order to attend a certain school. In some cases, in particular with athletes, the coaches are in on it, "recruiting" kids to their teams.

I find your whole premise though to be a many layered deception. Segregation as it existed pre 60's is a relic, it has nothing at all in common with districting policies in place today. You'd be hard pressed to find any school that is truly "segregated". In fact beyond student bodies you'd also be hard pressed to find any school lacking in Black teachers, administrators, board members or support personnel.

Of course when you create theories out of thin air with phrases like "racist tendencies" you bring in the accusation that literally has no defense. Similar to the Salem witch trials, mere accusation brought harsh penalties for those targeted.

I live close to a High School that is mainly attended by wealthy White kids, until recently the principal was a Black man who was fired for antisemitism, he was accused of being a holocaust denier. Of course all these accusations of thought crime are more along the lines of witchcraft, controlling others via lies, intimidation, etc.

We have a pretty robust charter school system down here but it is abhorred by the educational establishment, they want a monopoly on what and how children are taught.

Bingo. That isn't segregation but school districting. But I guess segregation is in the eye of the beholder. :)

This is why teachers and the education system itself has such a bad rep, they perpetuate the SJW garbage. My grandson was getting the "White privilege" indoctrination last year, what a joke. Hey teacher, tell me how a people group that represents 13% of the population will not look under represented? doh!

We are now assured to have another generation of racial problems,. Thanks teach!

Maybe we're teaching it because we see the difference between the "black" schools and the "white" schools. I see the test results, and I see the deficits my black students tend to have unless they went to a "white" school. I teach in higher education, which means I get white and black students who went to "white" schools, and white and black students who went to "black" schools. I could probably have a 90% accuracy rate in telling you who went to which school. If you want to argue semantics, and deny that there is a problem, then go right ahead, but I absolutely will not be silenced on this. Also, what does it hurt to make sure kids who are being under-served by the school administration receive a little extra assistance?
