    Personal Transformation

This poster came though my FB feed from Lance Wallnau. I've been thinking a lot about this very thing lately.

Many people think that because they get delivered from something or because they quit something and say, never touch a drop of alcohol again, that they're completely "free."

I challenge that, however, because so much of how we act, react, respond and behave is learned behavior. For example, I'm the product of a home that had both alcohol and rage/fear based discipline. It has taken me YEARS of inner healing and deliverance to change my responses and behaviors because of how I was raised.

I've heard that when a person stops their addiction, they revert back, emotionally, to the age they were when the addiction took hold. So if someone started drinking at 14, when they finally quit, they revert back and need to start maturing from there. It's not black and white, of course, as we DO have life experiences to draw on, but the basic emotional age is stuck there.

Often, too, they will just switch addictions. From alcohol to cigarettes or pot, or from pot to food or running or TV or internet...You name it.

I would say it this way. Deliverance can be/is an event. But transformation is a process. Usually. Obviously God can deliver and transform in an instant.

Yes, it is for a particular thing in a person's life that needs to be dealt with or for a particular stage in a person's spiritual growth.

But, it is true that it is an ongoing process. Jesus said in John 15 that the Father will purge us so we bare more fruit so it's actually a wonderful thing to know that the Lord is always leading us towards better ways of doing and seeing things.

Some folks do not think this is good news as they think they be all perfect all ready.

Sometimes I get frustrated when I see how slow the transformation is, especially when you are doing the best you can on your part

We have just had a terrible incident here of a charismatic pastor sexually abusing a 14 year old girl. Now the whole church will be smeared with his evil.
The newspaper even wrote some of his previous struggles and it did seem he was genuine in crying out for deliverance from his sexual problems but eventually gave in

I do wonder why he wasn't set completely free as he was abused as a child....in my human thinking I have to admit I ask God why don't you do something powerful in his soul

Yes he is responsible for his actions but most unsaved people do not have that damage in their make up and someone who comes to Christ has years of struggle

Well, why not do what God does and call things that be not as though they were while standing on God's promises, acting as if what He said about us is true?

I got it now, it's mine now... just keep walking with him instead of doing what some do when they get a little victory going they think they're all done.

Oh no, it's a lifelong growing process of allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us... but at the same time we should be saying "yep, what God says I am.. I am!"

This goes a long way to developing new vision concerning ourselves so we can start seeing ourselves as God says we are.

It's good the Holy Ghost is here to help us cause you know, everyone has photographic memory... but some don't have any film!

Absolutely. God can set you free as He has me . But we cooperate with God so that We can be made what HE wants us to be and become transformed . And that is a process. A very long one sometimes. It takes faith, patience and determination to see it to the end. And lots of loving people close to you that realize that You are in process...You are ok. It sure seems some days like if a christian shows that they have issues that they are dealing with their "brother's and sister's" try to throw them to the wolves to be devoured. God is doing a good thing...A new thing. HE is bringing a compassionate and understanding heart for those broken and being transformed.
Just as a bone that is set and healed is stronger in the broken place so God's people when healed are stronger in their broken places.

One time I had the Holy Spirit tell me, "Your revelation far exceeds your transformation." Ouch. Personal Transformation-40_zpsd8072fb2-gif

But that was several years ago. I'm fully caught up now.

Some times people cry out to God for a result but don't really want the actual change necessary for the result to be a fact.

Sometimes people spend too much time crying, "God help me (fill in the blank)________________!!!" When in reality they need to give it to God and start taking the steps to change their lives. Whenever I'm with someone who prays the God Help me prayer, I interrupt them with "God WiLL help you now GIVE it to Him." And proceed with the inner healing prayers from there.
