How do you get "accident" out of this? It's not like she accidentally dropped her gun and it went off, or they were in an auto accident. She drew her weapon and gave a command and then fired her weapon with the intent of killing him, and then realized it wasn't her apartment. That's a bit more than an accident. That's criminal misconduct.

Oh, and for the record, I've never been a Jamal Bryant fan, and I doubt I ever will be one... Unless he starts bearing some real, true, FRUIT of righteous... So, please don't get the impression I'm defending or in agreement with him at all.

And let's be totally honest here...

Of course Blacks and Whites are gonna view this situation from an entirely different perspective - While I agree, we shouldn't make "everything about race," the fact remains the perpetrator was one race, and the victim was another, and unfortunately, especially in this current climate, it boils down to race, even if you flip the script and change the ethnicities of the players.

However, one thing remains true: and

Would she have shot him if he was white? Hmmmm.
Well, one thing I do know is this:

She got off light because she was LE. I watched some of her testimony claiming to be "tired" after working a long shift, I'm thinking more like "drunk" or "stoned".

Anyway, the investigators probably cut her miles of slack as did the DA, as did the judge. They always do.

Yep! - That was my first thought too, when it was initially reported - I even told Hubby I thought she was either drunk or high, and they just covered that fact up.

Accident as in walking to the wrong apartment, etc.

Take the badge out of her identity and she would have fried. I think that is why they are making this "racial", to distract from the real reason for leniency (she's blue).

Nah, If she were out of it her defense attorney would have used that to try and get her off.

This was negligent manslaughter in my book.

It is a tragedy anyway you slice it.
The family of the victim have to live with the loss of their loved one.
The former officer has to live with the fact that she killed an innocent man.
For most normal people, that would be a huge weight to carry around for the rest of your life. No winners in this situation.

The real tragedy is that the liberal media will make this about race and about police brutality.

This probably would have never happened back in the day when folks actually knew their neighbors.

Amber Guyger: Witness in ex-cop's murder trial was shot to death in Dallas - CNN

Ten days after he testified in the murder trial of a former Dallas police officer, key witness Joshua Brown was gunned down at his apartment complex, according to the Dallas County medical examiner and Kimberlee Leach, spokesperson for Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot.

Brown lived across the hall from Botham Jean at Dallas' South Side Flats apartments last year when officer Amber Guyger walked into Jean's apartment, mistaking it for her own, and killed Jean...

Brown's testimony during Guyger's murder trial was key because he was able to describe the officer's actions immediately after she killed their neighbor, a 26-year-old accountant. Brown was killed Friday at his current home, the Atera Apartments, about five miles from his former complex where he, Guyger and Jean all lived.

Brown "was ambushed at his apartment complex as he got out of his car and (was) shot at close range," attorney Lee Merritt wrote in a Facebook post Saturday night. Merritt represents the Jean family....
Merritt said Brown's mother asked him to "do whatever it takes to get to the bottom" of her son's homicide.

"She suspects foul play, and it is difficult to rule it out," Merritt wrote. "He had no known enemies. He worked for a living. He was not in the streets. We need answers. Immediately."
