Will Suicide send you to hell?

I was reading something Senior Pastor Greg Laurie stated "We do know that Jarrid put his faith in Jesus Christ and we also know that he is in Heaven now."

My question is, is that easy? Put your faith in Christ, struggle, give up and commit suicide and your in Heaven?

Judas at one time put his faith in Jesus too. Does that mean is he going to heaven as well?

I was always taught that in ALL cases, suicide is self murder. I've evolved from that though.I don't know if it's that black and white in every situation.

This pastor takes a very harsh approach to the suicide of Jarrid Wilson.
He said in this video that it’s impossible to be born again and depressed

Some people commit suicide then repent before the moment they actually die. Beyond that it's basically a question of whether or not one believes that it's possible to die as a believer living in sin and then end up in heaven. With some people an act like that might mean a disassociation from God and everything good which means that it kills faith so the alternatives aren't "Osas or not".

He must be a pile of joy to his church.

No one can clearly answer this and is why many still wonder. God is the Judge of the things we cannot see. On the one hand I can get preachy when saying suicide is the most selfish of acts one can commit and with total finality. Suicide wrecks families and family trees worse than other “quittings” we do. Suicide thinks nothing of others. Question is: at the moment of death for those born-again does the Lord receive them if not in their right mind? If one thing IS clear to me it is this, those that take their own life are clearly not in their right mind.

Are you sure that that is always the case ? People use the same argument about murderers and others that do things that most people deem irrational acts. In some cases the person isn't in their right mind but in many cases it's just that they are being sinful or evil to an irrational degree. Which makes them no less guilty.

I’m talking primarily about thos born-again. Do I know every little detail? No and I freely give grace because of it. My duty as a believer and one called upon to be with devastated families is to stand with them and not question where the loved one is, neither would I stand before a funeral crowd and declare where the suicide victim is when I dont know. My job is to help them survive the trauma and grief.

Yesterday, in our town a few blocks from our pleasant little neighborhood a man was found in his backyard dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. In the house was a woman dead from a drug overdose. I did not know them. I have no idea how the unsaved make it anymore. The town is in shock.

I agree, we don't really know and someone who was a believer up until the suicide is most likely in heaven.

I believe Christians who commit suicide mostly go to heaven - No one can guarantee all go to heaven as some have been uncovered living hypocritically in wilful sin and instead of repenting they choose suicide

I believe that Jarrid went to heaven but I have to disagree with his pastor Greg Laurie for 1 comment he made. It may seem small but its important

I do understand Greg has to minister to thousands who are battling with this but we all have to be careful not to make appeasing statements because of this tragedy
Better not to make this statement. Mostly what he said was right and compassionate

Pastor Greg Laurie addressed the subject of suicide among Christians, arguing that you will not be judged for the last thing you did before death
Greg cannot say this because Paul said we will be judged about what we do on this earth. That doesn't mean that final act of suicide sends you to hell or you are not forgiven
But nonetheless all of us will give account to God for how we have lived

My concern is that some may see this as a way out instead of getting as much help as possible while alive

Bro. Hagin taught that you can get sick in the head just like you can get sick in the body. God wouldn't send you to hell for either one if you're a Christian. You have to imagine that someone would have to be pretty messed up in the head to actually take their own life. If a Christian could be in their right mind and commit suicide, then that might be another matter. I would mostly say 'no', but then again without full knowledge I'd have to say the answer to the title of the thread could also be 'it depends'.

Thankfully God knows all and is a merciful God. Whatever the suicide results is for eternity, God is just.
