Is refusing to tip a sin?

A recent post by John Burton...agree or disagree?

If the food is bad or prepared poorly at a restaurant, we don't have the option to leave without paying, unless the manager comps the meal. It would be theft if we did.
The same is true for tipping. We don't have the option to refuse to pay the server just because service is poor, unless there's an appropriate discussion with management. It's also theft.

I mean...this may be getting into believers' business a little too much. Seriously...demons if you don't tip? There's a lot of worthy subjects to discuss and I think this may be over-spiritualization of a subject. And I'm a minimum 20% tipper always.

Down here we have minimum wage and tipping is not part of our culture. People can still leave some extra 'tipping' money but waiters are not dependent on it

Burton has to be careful as he leans towards legalism even though there is truth to what he writes

I'm not saying this is what he's doing per se, but many preach personal preference as if it were scriptural or doctrine. Do I think people should tip well? Sure. But I'm not gonna preach about it and say you have demons if you don't.

Why be so cheap you squeek? Tip. Be a giver. That’s what we do.

    Thumbs up

It's only a sin if God instructs you to tip and you disobey. Period.

Thank you! I hate it when we’re at a conference and the speakers tell us to “tip big”...I got so irritated once, I blurted out, “ok, I’ll take the offering I was going to give, and tip the waiter instead.”
