    Contemplative Prayer.

I was told today that this type of prayer is simply TM seeping back into the church. Same manure, different name. I was told YWAM has been teaching it for years. Does anyone know anything about this??

Found a Focus On the Family link on it. They're supportive of it and address the issue you brought up right from the beginning.

    Thanks, fuego!

I was at a gathering today where I was told all that from my OP...

The lady said YWAM is teaching "Contemplative Prayer" and I said, "That's cool." and she got all over me saying that it's TM disguised...

I didn't know what to say, so I posted from there, hoping someone here would know something.

Now that I'm home, I'll do a bit of searching myself.

A lot of people/organizations say the same negative things about 'soaking'. I think there are too many definition of what contemplative prayer is to pin it down. Some probably are unscriptural and some aren't.

Thanks fuego. I trust your take on it. I'm really tired and can't fully concentrate on what I'm reading tonight.

Isn't YWAM a pretty conservative organization?

This lady also claimed that the majority of young people coming out of YWAM don't continue their walk with the Lord...

She's someone I've known for years but haven't fellowshipped with for quite some time...

sigh ... I'm going to bed.

    Thanks for your input!

I agree. The terminology can be a stumbling block, but I believe that John 17 can be helpful here. It is about unity and being one with the Father and the Son in the spirit.
