Can Catholics pray without genuflecting, kneeling or holding beads? I’m mean just in a conversational manner?
As an ex-Catholic, I can attest to the fact that it is a VERY culturally-connected religion, REGARDLESS of whether they have a genuine relationship with Christ. For example, on last night's 90 Day's Fiance, one of the ladies in the USA, is a stripper, and wants to marry a Muslim in Algeria. And, oh, by the way, she is a devout Catholic, who wears a cross and her Catholic religion is very important to her. Need I say anything else?
Those practices you list are closely held as their IDENTITY.
Yeah I get that part. Sorry I should have specified that more carefully. I should ask my friend. He is definately the born-again kind but loves the catholic church. We are riding partners and he will preach the word as we pedal along on the roadside. Most like him will up and leave.

I'm not so sure about that. She'll probably have to quit her stripping except as her husband directs. What things look like in public with Muslim couples is one thing but what they do in private, including when with their friends or even peers, may be something entirely different. She may have to wear a hijab in public then be treated like a slut elsewhere.
The Catholic lady sounds like my impression of many of the Calvinists I used to debate. I say Calvinists because I really tried to figure out who was who and among the non-Charismatics it was typically Calvinists. They were able to front rigid five point Calvinism yet they typically came across as living sinful lives. Some of them were the honest type but probably used the internet as an outlet and hid that elsewhere. Many of them considered their self proclaimed Elect status to trump everything else, they even toyed with the idea that the Elect might well depart from the faith entirely and into sin for a season but since they were Elect they would always return to the faith again eventually. To many of them it was just religion and they were very religious about their religion.

Its been a long time since I had a Catholic friend that we could talk openly about religious issues. I'd like to think that a truly born-again Christian would "recognize" some of the questionable parts and de-facto ignore those aspects (e.g., Mary veneration - yeah I get they don't "worship her" officially, but it sure seems a close 2nd )
I could picture a born-again person staying there as a ministry ground to get them born-again as well.
He was raised in the RCC until his mom got saved and went Pentecostal. So he knows not to go into Marionism on me. More than likely he isnt into that either. Every now and then he comes over to our country non-denom church and plays standup bass on our worship team
That's the whole deal with me, that true brothers in Christ focus on the main deal and unity that is close to Jesus heart. Jn 14.
