Intentions mean nothing. The difference is that Trump is actually doing it!

I said "long term". Many businessmen and investors over here were convinced upon his election victory that Trump's policies were bound to boost the American economy and the stock market in the short term but not necessarily in the long term.

Since then he has been all over the map until 2016 when he sort of nailed down his pro-life position. He gave money to Hillary Clinton and invited her to his wedding in 2005. Then he nicknamed her "crooked Hillary" when he ran against her in 2016. He campaigned on non-intervention overseas but since he was elected he has bombed Syria over something that posed no national security threat to the US. He campaigned against illegal immigration but as a builder he hired illegals for their cheap labor. He courted the religious right even though he is a member of the liberal wing of the Presbyterian church that favors gay marriage. He said that the Bible is his favorite book but he can't quote one verse from it.

I'll admit that I didn't vote for Trump. I've never liked the guy and I didn't trust him. However, since he took office I've seen just how powerful this deep state trifecta of media, academia, and the Washington establishment are, and I'm impressed with the job Trump is doing. If he keeps the economy growing, keeps dismantling Obama's mess, and keeps appointing good judges I just might vote for him next time around. But I still don't care for the guy.
Most of us even on this forum were not on the Trump train in the beginning. Not too long ago Krystian brought up a thread where most of us were hoping that Ben Carson rather than Trump get the Republican nomination. When Trump did get the nomination most of us here were furious.

Krystian, can you bring up that link again?

I did vote for him but it was more of a vote against the homosexual, anti-Christian and abortion agendas of the left than it was for Trump himself. I also solaced myself that at least he had Mike Pence, a solid born again believer, as his VP. However, I have been pleased for the most part with his performance. Like many others here I sometimes wish he would not say or tweet certain things but I also would rather have a "loud mouthed" leader who keeps his word and gets things done than a "cool" leader who is bent on destroying America and Christianity.

that's become the thing I point out.

If he's as bad as some say, what does that say about what we thought of the person he was running against?

You can't promise long term because you can't guarantee who will be in office next. These two parties of our are so diametrically opposed, (I'm saying both parties here) that they actually wish for the failure of the other party so that they can gain power. These people are not for the prosperity of the American people apart from what gets them in office.

I realize that but the consequences of what Trump is doing were likely to boost the American economy in the short term but not necessarily in the long term even if Trump had been President with a Republican majority in Congress indefinitely.

Obamas intent was to set us well on the road to serfdom . He couldn't see beyond his socialist nose
