Thread: Christians who hate Trump

  1. #11
Okay, now for an opposing viewpoint. Let's be honest about Trump. He was pro-choice until the 21st century when he started talking about running for president. Since then he has been all over the map until 2016 when he sort of nailed down his pro-life position. He gave money to Hillary Clinton and invited her to his wedding in 2005. Then he nicknamed her "crooked Hillary" when he ran against her in 2016. He campaigned on non-intervention overseas but since he was elected he has bombed Syria over something that posed no national security threat to the US. He campaigned against illegal immigration but as a builder he hired illegals for their cheap labor. He courted the religious right even though he is a member of the liberal wing of the Presbyterian church that favors gay marriage. He said that the Bible is his favorite book but he can't quote one verse from it.

I'll admit that I didn't vote for Trump. I've never liked the guy and I didn't trust him. However, since he took office I've seen just how powerful this deep state trifecta of media, academia, and the Washington establishment are, and I'm impressed with the job Trump is doing. If he keeps the economy growing, keeps dismantling Obama's mess, and keeps appointing good judges I just might vote for him next time around. But I still don't care for the guy.

I think he's more of a right winger than he's conservative in the religious sense. In a four party system divided according to left/right and liberal/conservative he would probably fit into right/liberal the best. But he has to choose a side.

I think your view represents about half of Trump voters. They weren't really voting for Trump, they were repudiating the swamp.

Trump is coming through for them.

We here in America make our decisions using the one potato, two potato method.....

I do not understand how people who claim to follow Christ can be this blind.
I see it on Twitter all the time on Marco Rubio's account. He will often post a Bible verse with no other commentary and he gets the most vile reactions. I see the same thing on Franklin Graham's twitter! Even when Bill Graham died, so many remarks were on how evil he was. Billy Graham! Talking about going to hell in a handbasket!

He is more a populist. He has done a lot for the working class. The academic elite hate him, which tells me he is doing a good job!

So was Obama but his real roots seem to be irreligious socialism. Left/liberal rather than "the great uniter".

Obama did major damage to the working class. Obamacare was great insurance, as long as you didn't have to actually use it. Obama was part of the academic elite. They THINK they know what's best, but they have no clue how things are in the "real" world outside their ivory towers.

I'm quite sure that Obama's intention was to boost the working class, just like Trump's intention is to boost the American economy in the long term. What the actual fruit is or will be is a different question.
