    The Prepper movement

I tune into Steve Quale quite a bit, and once in a while I check out the Jim Baker Show. The are big on preparing to tribulation and a total collapse.

I’m not sure what to think. Are they just fleecing people for money? Or do you think they are on to something?

I know of several people who have moved from California to places like Montana & Idaho, even whole church congregations. Seems extreme, no?

    Interesting article today

There's a lot of money in apocalypse related businesses in the US.

I was reading an "expert" blog post yesterday and the guy was saying that it was "essential" to carry with you a 12 gauge shotgun, a rifle, a 45 caliber pistol and a 22 LR pistol, oh, also a very expensive knife. You may also want a silencer (optional). That's just weapons, then you have your tents, food, shelters, vehicles, stoves etc, etc

Anyhooo... This old Marine can't take any of them very seriously. We used to get by with a rifle and a few ponchos.

Them fellers probably can't survive without donuts. BUT they do have all the latest "tactical gear", gloves, etc, etc..

When I was a little kid I loved to play "army", I think that is what most of them are doing, having some fun, etc.

Anyone else remember the TV series called: Doomsday Preppers?

I never missed an episode - Found it interesting, thought-provoking and intriguing...

However, I felt a "spirit of fear" trying to creep into my mind (and spirit) after watching it, and I knew that it wasn't of God, because He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.

I also came to the conclusion that if a Nuke went off, I didn't want to stay in an underground bunker until "the dust settled" - I mean seriously, who wants to live in the aftermath of that madness?

Sooo, I'll be content to go on home to be with my Jesus - Whenever he calls me - Whether it's by way of "natural causes," a nuclear attack, flood, hurricane, or starvation as a result of a prolonged EMP occurrence.

Now, do I have some "Emergency Food and Water and Candles and Matches, etc." set aside in case of power outages? - Yes, but nothing to the extent of having a whole room full of "Survival Gear"

And Yeah! - I think Jim Baker and his ilk are planting seeds of fear, and profiting from it - Shame on them!

Yes, Romans828, it is a spirit of fear, and if something were to go wrong I think most of these amateur commandos would be the first casualties.. probably shoot each other up.

Jonathan's recommended 'fire kit' to quickly start a fire, even in the rain

That's probably a few hundred dollars in "tactical fire starting gear".

You could just get out of the rain and use one of these:

    This will also work

The stuff that they are selling is pretty sketchy/scammy but if people will buy it, someone will sell it.

Seriously, this is the stuff Bakker lives for. He profits from hyped up anxiety and a scenario of endtimes hysteria. Anyone recall his Y2K “ministry”? He had a Mountain House anointing. Same thing. You just cant take him seriously anymore that Popoff and Tilton.

Yep, he's selling fear, classic dog returning to his own vomit, fleecing his followers.
