I had a look at the written testimony. How do we know she's telling the truth ?

There is just to much detailed information in her testimony for this to be made up.

Besides, the Catholic church has a violent history of abuse and torture.

Books have been published telling such stories of our local CC orphanage and it isnt pretty. The wickedness in the priesthood is legendary.

My mother ended up in a "home" run by CC, she doesn't talk about it much but when she says "it was run by NUNS", you kinda get the drift.

I was raised RC, didn't bump into any pedos but then again I wasn't an altar boy or anything like that, just attended sporadically. I also have nuns in the family (not current generation) and went to Catholic school for 1st, 2nd grades, it was run by NUNS.

It could be well written, detailed fiction. It could be loosely based on the experiences of others in different settings. It could involve sheer exaggerations.

I went through the womans testimony, gotta call horse hockey on it. Too many omissions. Anyone that immersed in CC would have made mention of rosaries, saints, a few other things. At one time in our nations history Catholics were demonized. My parents had a cross burned on their front lawn when they were a young Air Force couple stationed in WV. Not sure if it was because they were Catholic as they mentioned that they had also had a black couple over for dinner. Maybe it was that.

I've read a lot of bad things about Carmelites before. The Satan worshipper who was at CARM at one time was an ex-Catholic but what she was presently into wasn't all that different to the renditions in the testimony, some sort of upsidedown Catholicism where the testimony describes some sort of mix between Catholicism and an upsidedown version.

it was an interesting, harrowing listen.

I'm not really sure how much I think is truth and how much is what she remembers. I'm willing to believe the things done to her are real, but the easy death.. I don't know.
