    "Missionary" Dating

You know, you're a Christian, you meet someone of the opposite sex that's unsaved, you like them and you start dating them.

in the meanwhile you're witnessing to them, reading the Bible together, going to church together..they eventually become a Christian.

    Is this a good idea?

You forgot to add "and sleeping together". But she does read the Bible to him in bed.

There is /was a cult that called it "flirty fishing".

The term is derived from Matthew 4:19 from the New Testament, in which Jesus tells two fishermen that he will make them "fishers of men."[4] Cult leader David Berg extrapolated from this that women in his movement should be "flirty fishers" (also called "bait" or "fisherwomen"). The targeted men were called "fish." The cult published several documents with exact instructions. Flirty Fishing was defined as using sex appeal for proselytizing.

Nope. Because I would venture to guess most of the time it's the other way around. The unsaved 'evangelizes' the saved one.

I think its mostly a bad idea. The "romance" path typically clouds thinking and too easily leads to compromise.

Is it possible for a good outcome? Yes I have seem it happen. But more often, I have seen things go wrong.

I think the best safeguard is to lay a strong defensive line, and ask the Holy Spirit concerning ANY person you have an involvement with.

Bad company corrupts good morals. Not the other way around.

Gotta say this is dangerous ground - Unfortunately, most of the women get (slowly, but surely) pulled into sin, when they "keep company" with an unsaved man for a prolonged period of time.

At least with the unbeliever, we know where that person is spiritually. There is another case, where the person SAYS they are a believer, but are masquerading, knowing the jargon, etc.

I have known people who were really mature believers, who thought they were marrying a solid Christian. Then I talk to the person after a while, and their spouse has lost interest in the things of God.

I have heard people say to find a person that goes to church, because they are good people.
