Legitimate grounds for having an abortion?
These posts have been split off from another thread:
http://livingfaithforum.com/forum/sh...=8987#post8987
God hates divorce per default. But there are legitimate grounds for divorcing. God hates abortion per default. But there are legitimate grounds for having an abortion.
As I said...scripture states clearly what those TWO grounds are. As for abortion ...wow...thou shalt not murder...NO grounds for murder..none....

I have to agree with you there. Where are legitimate grounds for an abortion/murder in scripture? This thread gets more bizarre by the moment.

That is because Quest snipped the next sentence which says something about "for instance the inevitable death of the mother".
There are several legitimate grounds for taking the life of an adult human being. A death sentence for murder and during a justifiable war are two examples.
In these three examples the act of taking that human life is no longer termed "murder".

Now I've been retired quite a while, so I don't hear everyone's business like I did when I worked, but I have never heard of any woman having to abort to save her life.
edit: I have heard of women who chose not to abort rather than risk their baby's life with cancer treatment, although those were accounts in the news.

It has become rare due to improvements in medical science. In the Western world at least. But that is the most convincing case of justifiable abortion.
A complete pacifist of the "do nothing and place everything in the hands of God" persuasion would reject all the three scenarios I listed where taking the life of a human being is justifiable. I could add "to defend one's own life" (which relates directly to the mentioned abortion scenario as well) and make it four. They would reject that too.

Your statement, though a snippet stated what it stated...legitimate reasons for abortion...the fact that you list what you deem to be a legitimate reason, the inevitable death of the mother, for many does not alter the reality of a death for a life...murder...but I understand many would disagree especially those who have no faith in God and His will and power to move powerfully on behalf of those who place their faith in Him and don't yield to the voices of people who say 'it's the only way...'

The crazy thing about this thread is that noone here will balk at the idea that there are legitimate reasons for killing adult human beings but if the human being happens to be unborn and it involves the exact same reason (saving one's own life) then wham.

It's a VERY rare occasion that one is presented with such a scenario.
John 15:13
There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Of course the mother should be allowed to give her life for her baby if she so wishes.

If the Lord says so. The baby has no will to do the same.
