    Church offering "Conversion therapy" workshop

    https://www.freep.com/story/news/loc...n-t/310931002/

A Downriver church is at the center of a local culture war after being accused of planning a workshop for LGBTQ-identifying adolescent girls that has been likened to controversial — and in many states illegal — conversion therapy classes.

On Thursday, Metro City Church in Riverview is set to start a six-week course pegged as the "Unashamed Identity Workshop." Targeting biological girls ages 12-16 who "think they may be gay, bisexual, or transgender," the church explained on its website that the $200 course would "help your girl be unashamed of her true sexual identity given to her by God at birth."

The phrasing and intentions of the course — using "thoughtful, relevant and biblical counsel" to help girls be "unashamed" with their "true sexual identity" — has raised red flags for locals, who draw parallels between the church's programming and so-called conversion therapy, which promises to change a minor's sexual orientation or gender identity via prayer.

Well, the church does need to be more proactive, but this is not the way. Our small church has about 8-10 teens and they are questioning the Biblical position on homosexuality, so we're going to start a class explaining homosexuality and its root causes and how to help a homosexual friend. But NOT so-called conversion therapy.

Can you share some root causes?

There are several. One that IS not a root cause is being "born that way." One major root cause is the child's bonding with the opposite sex parent, rather than the same-sex parent. The incidence of male homosexuality is high in families where dad is absent (or passive or who rejects his children). In women, one major root cause, in addition to the bonding factor, is molestation. Nearly 2/3 of lesbian women report some molestation in their childhood. As a result, you'll often hear lesbians say that they determined they would never allow men to have power over them. Their lesbianism (in some cases) serves as protection against being further assaulted by a man. Some homosexual men, too, have molestation in their background. Certainly not all. Really, the major root cause that sums up several all rolled into one is the weakening of the family unit. Men who desert their families are creating an opening for the enemy to gain a foothold in the lives of their children as they grow. Dad is to be their protector and certainly not the perpetrator of abuse.

Heard this reason, made much sense...When children are sexualized before they are sexually aware themselves.

I think this is why the lbgqterrorists are starting "education" earlier and earlier.

Good reply. He makes some good points. Amazingly he didn't back down after all the backlash. I kind of expect that these days.

It wasn't a great response. He's hung up on it being a "choice." It is not. And very few people ever move from heterosexuality to homosexuality. Likewise very few move from homosexuality to heterosexuality--at least as an "orientation."
