Well, I try not to demonize victims, to my eye the exterminator was innocent on every level. Certainly did nothing deserving of a punch, much less 5 or 6 six rounds.

It's that attitude (blaming victims) that pretty much guarantees these things will continue to happen, a blind obeisance/defense of authority.

So you and your kids are playing at a hotel pool and you see someone pointing a rifle and you would just dismiss it.
    That's absurd, didn't happen.

And no, I wouldn't be looking in through windows number one and number two, it's perfectly ok to handle rifles. There was none of the business you tried to throw out there that the guy was "pointing the rifle out the window at people". That sounds like a line right out of the cop shop (instantly make up lies and dirty up the victim whenever there is a shooting).

A couple at the hotel jacuzzi saw the men handling the rifle through the window of Shaver’s hotel room and reported it to the hotel, which called 911.

It is on you that you can't be honest about this man's foolish behavior....and are literally trying to dismiss it as totally irrelevant...fact is there would have been no police there at all had he not acted so foolishly...and unfortunately he encountered one that a psycho...

Apparently he showed a work tool, a pellet gun to someone in the privacy of his room, another guest who was watching through the window called the front desk who then called the killing crew.

I would say the peeper and the front desk had some culpability, probably brain washed by the "see-something, say something" police state messages at the Wal-Mart.

Hopefully his survivors take all 3 entities to the cleaners with lawsuits, they acted foolishly, an innocent man was murdered, they should pay.

Your version of events wasn't presented truthfully so I can't say he acted foolishly. He wasn't pointing the gun out the window at kids in the pool. That was just you running a smear on the victim.

Shaver was staying at the hotel for work when he invited a man and a woman to his room for drinks. While there, he showed them an air rifle that he used for his pest control job.

A couple at the hotel jacuzzi saw the men handling the rifle through the window of Shaver’s hotel room and reported it to the hotel, which called 911.

The defense claims that the use of force was proper given the training Brailsford received at the police academy, and that Shaver’s actions caused the shooting.
    Train up a killer....

The police state has everyone thinking they are living in an episode of "24".

It really isn't about the fact that the victim had or didn't have a rifle. In the video it is plain to see that the officers had the situation under control. The second they restrained the woman, the same cop should have moved down the hall and restrained the man while his partner had him covered.

The cop had a bad attitude right from the start. You don't treat anyone like that. How did they know that it was even the same guy who walked around the corner. It could have been someone from the room next to him. And then a totally innocent person would have been mistreated and murdered.

It is these kinds of police officers that have put us in the predicament that we are in right now with the state of police mistrust in our cities.

And whatever happened to tazers in a situation like this?

Zeke for the most part I totally agree with you except the part of dismissing the fact that he had a rifle and acted foolishly with it...we can't ignore the FACT that had he not done that he would not have had the encounter with the BAD cop to begin with...

One fact does not negate or justify the other....but they do in part EXPLAIN it...and all points considered explain why the cop was not convicted...
