Yeah, I just pointed this out to one believer. We will start hearing the argument "Well, God made it, it is natural" and so on and so forth. But guess what? You can have a drink without getting drunk-Which is not sin. But you cannot take a single toke without getting buzzed. Which is not being sober or vigilant. It may not be a good idea for you to do either one, but one is definitely a sin, while the other isn't, at least according to scripture. One more thing we will have to "weed" out (pun intended) in the church!

In that same thought, after not so much as sipping a beer since 1981, I would definately feel the effects of having half a can of beer. My deciding it is ok at any level is a sign of spiritual drowsiness.

Every drunkard started with a sip. I am for complete abstinence. I know that makes me unpopular. So be it!
I have been told that Meth can affect the brain. Not sure but I want nothing to do with it.
It is my desire to live a holy life.

This is true. Can't be a drunkard if you never drink. Or a drug addict if you never take drugs.

Over in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 we find a list sins that will keep a person out of the kingdom of God. Drunkards is one of them mentioned.
In verse 11, Paul writes, "And that is what some of you were (previous living in a sinful lifestyle). He goes on to say, "But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."
According to the above passage, "once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic" is not true. It says that is what they were (past tense), but now they were different having been washed, sanctified and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Holy Spirit. Drunkards don't need A.A. to get free from alcohol addiction. They need salvation, which will deliver them from the clutches of sin's slavery and change their spiritual identity.
Many true believers today used to be alcoholics including me. We have been set free from our ungodly desire for alcohol and have been drinking living water that only Jesus can supply.
If you put God First, you have Him at Last.
