An appearance of religion but denying its power, as the Bible says.
Agree Colonel. For me, CARM gave me the biggest education on the fact that the biggest attacks on faith and Charismatic phenomenom came from the Cessationists and Calvinists.

On the other hand, CARM had a few "Arminian/Wesleyans" who claimed to be anti-cessationist but always argued as if they WERE cessationists and almost always locked arms with the Calvinists when attacking the faith teachers.

I was mostly there at a time when WoF wasn't quite what it used to be and excesses were being exposed, around the year 2000. There was a lot of turmoil and the heresy hunters exploited that but there were some good points made too. It was easy to get pulled into the storm though.

A good reminder....take what you need and leave the rest...gleaning through the filter of the Holy Spirit keeps us teachable and empowers us to go deep ...

I wanted to apply this rule to some of these, like the one mentioned earlier, but found two problems...there dishonesty preceded any truth they may have been able to convey in such a profound way I could not stand it...and in trying to converse with some there was not any discussion...only defensive accusations...and as noted earlier often using the weapon of mocking...

Holy Spirit was able to get through on the error I had absorbed and filter it out without them...

At least he wasn't baptized in the Spirit from embracing the teaching in the book.
