Second, I certainly wasn't trying to be dismissive - I thought your point was to say: "See, if this article was written by a white person, they'd be called a racist."
...So my response was actually in agreement with you...
And as you know, I try to avoid these types of heated discussions, because they never end well.
However, (given my heartbreak at the recent gang up on FO) maybe it did come across as a bit snarky, and again, I apologize.
I wasn't offended. The problem with print is that you can't tell how it's being said, It can come across in a way that it's not meant to. I'm saying that both for you and me. I was just simply responding to the post and there was nothing behind it other than just responsing. And I appreciate your 'spirit'.
We're good.

White people may never fully comprehend the downside of integration for black people. We can only hope our white brothers and sisters will assume and believe the best of us, and celebrate our attempts at forging black community instead of impeding them. Although black people are going to find a way to gather with one another anyway, the understanding from white Christians would facilitate racial harmony.
I think a fair analogy is a support group for victims of child abuse, or for people afflicted with a particular medical condition. Participants in such groups would normally be people who have experienced a particular problem and can therefore relate to one another on a deeper level than would be possible with people of the general population. It seems to me that descendants of slaves who have been treated like second-class citizens based on their appearance, have, in fact, endured a particular kind of abuse, and might benefit from sharing their experiences with those who have suffered similarly.
Many churches have the concept of "small groups", each of which has a particular focus and attracts people with certain common experiences. It seems to me that this would be the appropriate avenue to address such needs within a larger multi-racial, multi-ethnic church community.

This all reminds me of something some white guy once said years ago. He used to mistreat people on the job and a black guy accused him of racism. He told him, "I'm not a racist. I hate all of you equally, whether you are black or white."
Well, at least he can't be accused of racism

I worked with some guys like that. Most of them were alcoholics though, but a few of them hated everybody.
