Thread: God and illegitimate children

  1. #51
Krys, I first listened to Dr. Leaf 7-8 years ago, and am familiar with her. I've been listening to Dr. Bruce Lipton. He does not come from a Christian worldview, but he is a scientist, researcher, and educator. He's been doing DNA research for 30-40 years. My husband checked out some of his books on epigenetics, and I also have another book on epigenetics that is fantastic (very long and gives every nuance and detail of medical history)

Catchy, I don't you've seen this thread yet. Are you familiar with Dr. Caroline Leaf? She's a famous Christian neuroscientist who has done some amazing studies on how to fix your brain and even change your DNA thru following simple biblical principles:

50 years ago that would have said a lot but the world is getting more complicated. Some people have children then marry some time later, some never marry yet stay together and raise the child until it leaves home. These children show up in statistics as "born out of wedlock" but their situation may be far better than the ones who don't and whose parents divorced one year after the child was born. Irrespective of which children Cardinal TT would define as "defiled" and which ones he would not.

First let me say that every child conceived and born is instantly loved by God and God has saved many illegitimate children and they have become some of the best Christians

But God ordained marriage and only wanted children birthed from marriages and even though illegitimate are loved by God there are always consequences and struggles these children go through.
There is also a curse that can affect illegitimate kids.

With so many kids being born out of marriage is this a major reason why more and more kids seem to have increasing struggles with suicide, depression and other psychological illnesses.
Yes I know it has always been there and even Christian kids suffer but it must have a cumulative sin affect on society

Is there a correlation with illegitimate kids and Gods judgement in the last days as there will be more Illegitmate people alive at that time then any other era of earths history.

Of course the sin is by the parents but we know that their sin will affect the next generation
IMHO God wanted children born within the marriage for their good..family is HIS design. Both marriage and childbirth are events of the soul..this is why, I believe, children seem to KNOW something is 'amiss' when adopted.

IF there is an end time correlation it would be these people not allowing God to fill the gap in their life but honestly I don't think the sin of fornication propagating illegitimate will be a primary issue..I believe sin and rebellion in general will be.

There is no sin..no DNA propensity..no stronghold God has not already given us what we need to be free..the big issues are recognizing our need to change, recognizing our ability to change...our willingness to change...

Issues of legitimacy or illegitimacy aside, when one is born again any curse becomes null and void, right? That whole thing about being redeemed from the curse of the law and all that (Galatians 3)? Of course we would need to be cognisant to this truth in order to live our lives in His will, as we understand it.

I don't think anyone argues that.

Well, as we've all said at one time or another, there is the issue of positional authority and actually walking out what we have been given freely. They are two different things.

Being born (and raised) as a legitimate child according to every possible definition into a family in Saudi Arabia will lower one's chances of ever entering "the assembly of the Lord" to near zero compared to being born after some prostitute in the United States failed to abort her child by 100 different men and then left it to be brought up in some orphanage. The correlation between the "legitimacy" of a child and the probability of it "allowing God to fill the gap in their life" is zero. It could even be argued to be negative, in world terms. (Meaning that if one is an illegitimate child then the chances are greater that one has been born in a Christian country than if one is a legitimate child and therefore one's chances of becoming a Christian are in fact greater)

I'm disregarding possible future revivals here so the focus would be someone who is currently getting close to the end of their life.

Legally? Yes..but the enemy keeps us blind often to the reality of our liberty..we sing 'I am free' in church but live in bondage to things like fear, unbelief, unforgiveness, emotional instability, mental disorders...because we are not taking what is rightfully ours..

I thought about that verse that Cardinal TT quoted :

Deut 23:2 One of illegitimate birth shall not enter the assembly of the Lord; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of the Lord.

This is part of the ceremonial law and there is no curse added ("you will be cursed on the field, your livestock will be cursed" etc), only the fact that the person will never enter the assembly of the Lord.

Heb 10:1 The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves.

So I thought about what this foreshadows in the new covenant and then it occurred to me. It foreshadows the new birth. If we aren't properly born of God then we are illegitimate sons as Hebrews 12:8 talks about and we will never have our names written in the book of life and enter heaven. We may do good deeds, align ourselves with correct doctrine but that doesn't make us his legitimate sons. But the new birth does make us his legitimate sons.
