The previous verse says :
23:1 “He who is emasculated by crushing or mutilation shall not enter the assembly of the Lord."
Does that mean that people today with damaged genitals are also under a curse which opens demonic doors ?
The next verse says :
3 “An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter the assembly of the Lord; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of the Lord forever"
Does that mean that a similar curse applies to certain peoples today which opens demonic doors ?
What about all the people that can but do not enter "the assembly of the Lord" today, which corresponds to entering the new covenant ? Does that keep them under a curse that opens demonic doors ?
It seems to me that the basic difference between being cursed and blessed revolved around being part or not being part of the assembly of God, just as it revolves around being part of or not part of the new covenant today. Which is also the logic of 1 Cor 7:14. Living in sin creates problems for believers but unbelievers are under the curse whether they are married, unmarried or whatever they are doing.
There is no curse today on any group of people or on people of any description that prevents them from entering the new covenant.

Four verses earlier :
Malachi 2:11 Judah has dealt treacherously, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the Lord which He loves and has married the daughter of a foreign god
The typical result of doing that was that those wives lead both their husbands and their children to worship idols and the practice became part of that household. Godly offspring would be someone who worships the one true God and who follows his ways.
Ezekiel 18:14 “Now behold, he has a son who has observed all his father’s sins which he committed, and observing does not do likewise.
15 He does not eat at the mountain shrines or lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, or defile his neighbor’s wife,
16 or oppress anyone, or retain a pledge, or commit robbery, but he gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing,
17 he keeps his hand from the poor, does not take interest or increase, but executes My ordinances, and walks in My statutes; he will not die for his father’s iniquity, he will surely live.
18 As for his father, because he practiced extortion, robbed his brother and did what was not good among his people, behold, he will die for his iniquity.
19 “Yet you say, ‘Why should the son not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity?’ When the son has practiced justice and righteousness and has observed all My statutes and done them, he shall surely live.
20 The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son’s iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.

Originally, people were very concerned with whether or not a child was born in wedlock. That would settle its identity as a legitimate child with a right to be brought up by the father and his household and it would have inheritance rights as a son or daughter. The reason why they were concerned with its status at birth was mostly because they usually had no means of determining with certainty who was having sex with the mother at the moment of conception, which would have happened within an interval of at least several weeks. If the father was married to the mother at the time of the birth and the father did not reject the child claiming that he did not have sex with the mother at that time and there was nothing indicating that he could not be the father (wrong skin color for instance), then the child was counted as legitimate, recorded as such and counted as such from that time and on. This way of thinking stems from a time before one was able to determine by tests who is not the father and in many cases who is the father.
Why would God who looks to the hearts of the people involved bother with this reasoning established by human beings ?
Psalm 68:5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.

There is no doubt that the inner cities are now akin to mafia strongholds.....the criminal elements basically run the entire thing with brute force, intimidation, murder, and crime. This is why the gun/homicide rate seems so high in the US. 75% of all gun violence occurs in the inner city. It only stands to reason that when you have such a high volume of fatherless children running around, they get into trouble.
That said, of course the out of wedlock birthrates have climbed a LOT in the US, period (whites included, which is at 32% or something like that). I believe in border states, Hispanic teens have the highest out of wedlock birthrates. The drug cartel use this as a tactic to have "anchor babies" in order to secure a place in the US.
It only stands to reason that any child that does not have a present father, an under-educated mother (or teen mother), has the deck stacked against him/her. It's not that the child CAN'T succeed, but it makes it much more difficult.
Well, here's the bottom line. I've been studying a lot about epigenetics and now I know that the there is a science to what God said in His Word concerning how RNA and DNA gets it's "programming". We now know that human behaviors get programmed into the DNA and RNA of every person....and it comes from our parents. Lab rat studies showed that when rats were given an electric shock when they ate a certain food, 3-4 generations of those rats avoided those foods. Other studies have been done as well. I personally believe this explains a LOT in relation to how behaviors seem to go from one generation to another. The problem is we now cannot say 'gay sex is sin' because of the stigma on gays and they have committed suicide due to being told they are sinners.
Even calling people sinners can get you in trouble. Society has now gone to the other extreme
Because all of society has embraced ungodly lifestyles many christians have lowered their stance. Yes babies are lovely and cute and emotions are swayed but God still sees a child born from sin.
In the spiritual realm satanic doors are opened in children born out of wedlock that are not opened to children born in marriage.
But the amazing thing is that RNA and DNA can get re-programmed, especially through God's Word. I've been listening to a guy who isn't even a Christian explain how to re-program your DNA and he literally described positive confession. It was so interesting.
But saying all of that to say.....you are right, TT. There are things that we don't take serious, and we should.
Can't argue with any of that, TT. We are reaping the consequences on earth, of all of these fatherless children, acting out in pain and hurt. Many feel lost due to this. This has an overall impact on homes, towns, states and even the nation. Curses are released onto all of society due to this transgression
It was so serious that a curse remained for 10 generations - these curses are still here in the NT and can only be broken by the blood of Christ. They did not disappear automatically when Jesus died
Deuteronomy 23:2 (NKJV) - One of illegitimate birth shall not enter the assembly of the Lord; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of the Lord.
Below psalm was for children born inside marriage
Psalm 127:3 - Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
John brought up this scripture
Malachi 2:15 - Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.
There are godly offspring and ungodly offspring - we find that offensive but that is how God sees it
I am bringing this up on a mature Christian forum for discussion not advocating we go around telling unwed parents their kids are ungodly

I've never heard studies on that but I've always believed that too...just look at all the different breeds of dogs, most were selectively bred to promote certain temperaments or character traits. Hunting dogs were carefully bred to increase their instinct to track prey, shepherds to herd livestock...even pit bulls can be bred to be gentle or misbred to increase viciousness.
Catchy, I don't you've seen this thread yet. Are you familiar with Dr. Caroline Leaf? She's a famous Christian neuroscientist who has done some amazing studies on how to fix your brain and even change your DNA thru following simple biblical principles:
