Jakes has advised well to protect the husband from this woman's abuse, and to protect her from herself. He seems to be a very laid back phlegmatic and she's just a damaged woman and perhaps subliminally aggressive as a response to her former abusive husband. I think there is some definite insight by Jakes into the fact that they should never have married. As unbelievers (which their behaviour tends to reveal), they should not be forced to obey God's word where they do not have the power or inclination to do so.

No..it meant when he was with them he taught them in a way they could understand. And did not deliberately offend their traditions.

TD had a perfect opportunity to share the love of God and the power of God to transform to two people and rather pointed them totally away from the truth...
It's the truth that sets us apart, that makes us peculiar to the world...If he cannot remain true to truth and be on.

To MY liking? Bap...my liking is irrelevant...He picked the side of human reasoning and philosophy rather than what GOD likes..that is the problem here..

You are right..he has been becoming more and more secular and this program reveals just how far down that road he has traveled it would seem.
That's what compromise does...truth gets harder and harder to sustain with every one...until eventually a different gospel has emerged..

I pray he is convicted and repents and turns back..
What truth of scripture was compromised ?

You basically believe that adultery is the only grounds for divorce based on what Jesus said to a Group of OT Pharisees .. that's your belief based on legalism and that's fine but that's not what I believe and apparently not what he believes and definitely not what Paul Taught .

Yes I believe Marriage is sacred but some people simply are not ready for the truth of God's word as it pertains to marriage ..

The promised land was sacred it represented the truth of God's word and covenant didnt it ? How come God insisted on a forty year wilderness sojourn first ? why didn't he just preach the power of God to them and take them into the promised land anyway despite the fact that they werent ready ? Shouldnt the power of the covenant have protected them anyway going by your logic

As the scrtiptures said they would be consumed by the land if they went in prematurely .. does it occur to you that a bad ill advsed abusive marriage can in the same way consume an individual ?

Again please drop your rocks and quit being so dramatic .. go listen to Bishop Jakes many teachings on the topic of marriage . They are freely accessible on youtube and then you can at least better assess his heart if you must ...

There were definitely some bad issues there...but his counsel was not Biblical..it was carnal. As a minister of GOD his counsel should be Biblical..

They needed to hear GOD's view on their marriage covenant and the power of God to change us and take the bad and make it good if we trust and follow HIm..not his views on the fact they probably should never have married so divorce is right. As a minister that is what Christians expect from ministers...Godly counsel..not secular..

I tend to agree, based on what I have read. I would say also, that for situations such as this, this is why annulments exist. If someone marries under fraudulent circumstances, there should be an option to move forward as a measure of protection. Also, there are children involved here, complicating the entire matter.

    It's a mess.....

What truth? after 62 pages you ask that? There is ONLY ONE reason for divorce...adultery and even then it's viewed as a hardening of the heart...

He told them since they should not have married, divorce is the right thing to do...that is totally unscriptural and actually counter to scripture.

Are you seriously again trying to bring in scriptures that have nothing to do with marriage to counter what scripture actually DOES say? BAP..

I have no rocks BAP..I have SCRIPTURE. Can a man/woman divorce his wife/husband for any reason? NO...except for adultery...

I will not stop being dogmatic about TRUTH when clear scripture supports that truth...

Divorce is the one topic that, IMHO, reveals just how watered down the 'church' has become And does the most damage..

No doubt divorce does tremendous damage, especially to children. But if your comment is directed towards those that disagree with you, tread carefully my sister, tread carefully. Don't pull a Nikos.

Yep when scripture is viewed thru a legalistic prism based on a single statement , that is true
when viewed thru the eyes of the grace of God and a variety of other scriptures , abandonment, non willingness , abuse etc are all factors ... One size does not fit all

No I am talking about COVENANT principles since you earlier brought up the covenant nature of marriage. I was highlighting the danger inherent in forcing people to try to live up to the ideals of a Covenant when they are barely able to crawl talk less of walk.

We should all have our foundation in scripture, not philosophies...Nikos is not always wrong in his warnings...he is just sometimes really rude and sarcastic toward PEOPLE.

Prove me wrong...prove God condones divorce for any reason other than adultery...prove it scripturally or is it just human reasoning? Something God tells us NOT to rely on?

Prove me wrong...prove what TD Jakes did in this video is SCRIPTURAL...

Prove me wrong that TD Jakes a man of God was not obligated to give Godly counsel instead of human psychology..

Either we stand with scripture or we don't...He did not...

    2 Timothy 3:16
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
