didn't Bishop Jakes condemn the "Preachers of LA" reality show?

Well the point is, they were married regardless. So as a minister, because he 'gets' what happened and knows why it's gone bad, he should recommend divorce?

Not based on a letter or a phone call. That's the main problem, it's a talk show.

I wouldn't say that he recommended a divorce

She clearly didn't want to be married a point which crystallized as the show went on

As Paul said if a spouse wants to depart let him/her depart .. So he was simply telling the man to accept the fact that she had no desire for the marriage.

We are called to peace so I believe the bishop was correct on this one

So he has this couple on, (and I'm going to distill this a lot and cut to the chase for brevity. You can ask for other details and I will fill you in), that have been married for 5 months and the wife has filed for divorce, and the husband wrote TD trying to save the marriage. Basically it has boiled down that she has 6 kids, and she told him she didn't have to support her or the kids but just pay for himself. But she's been going in the hole with her finances because he hasn't lived up to his end of the deal. He's had trouble getting a job that pays enough (after moving from another state to marry her) and she's projecting out that he will never be able to help so she wants a divorce. Says she loves him still, etc, but no go any more.

TD actually was baffled by her side and position because she wanted the divorce in so short a time. No abuse, physical or mental, just this money problem and him not living up to his end of the 'bargain'. But it finally came out that she married this guy like two weeks after her divorce was final. She said that he was the opposite of her ex husband who was verbally abusive. This guy was nice, treated her nicely, etc etc etc. When that came out, TD basically said I understand this whole thing now. You did have an abusive relationship, this guy was nice to you, etc...what happened is you married your nurse (figuratively speaking of course). And he went on about that some.

But anyway, to make a long story short, he said this woman married way to soon, had not had time to process her other hurt etc, and told the guy some stuff and the final solution was that he needed to walk away and they needed to get the divorce because it was too soon for her. I've just never heard a preacher suggest divorce just because things weren't working out like the woman wanted after just 5 months of marriage.

So what are your thoughts on this?
I think TD just became a social advisor that leans to humanistic reasoning and psychology instead of pointing them to repentance and submission to Jesus as Lord and Savior and reminding them of the power of God to take something flawed and make it beautiful if they will make GOD the center of their COVENANT.

A marriage based on lies, deceit, betrayal, etc. is doomed from the start.
This is true but I believe that if ONE is sold out, They are partnering with God to deal with the other party on their behalf...
I believe some use the fact that it takes two and one is not interested as an excuse to not fight.

The pastor of the largest (regular) Pentecostal church in Oslo had his own "show" on one of the national channels for a while. I'm not sure how much good it did, it seemed very watered down and restricted by the secular channel. He's not anything like that when he preaches in his own church and elsewhere.

Being a little harsh there Quest

Question: what if Joseph had attempted to point Pharaoh to his father and his covenant before the time when pharaoh himself asked to meet Joseph's father ? Beheading perhaps ?

Jesus himself held back on saying certain things to certain people cos they weren't ready for it at the time . He himself said not to cast pearls before swine .

The whole premise of the said show was saving marriages and stopping divorce and the woman in question who had already filed for divorce was pretty adamant that she doesn't want to be married and was even belligerent towards TD Jakes on the show .

Asking the guy to accept the obvious was neither psychological nor humanistic . It was biblical .
