No...

I work at a television station that airs him (in fact he's on right now!) and we have also dealt directly with some of his post production staff in Branson. Due to his felony convictions he can't claim a 501d tax exempt status. So by selling the food/solar panels/ect., that is one of the ways he makes money.

I can also tell you he's good... very good on paying bills. We've had no problems whatsoever.

So on the surface it may look that way, but it's not by design.

I don't think so. Don't necessarily agree with it, but he seems to be pretty transparent these days. He could have formed another organization with one of his kids as president or perhaps his wife. That way he could have had the tax exempt status. But it appears he's pretty open on what he does. Not all of those items he sells are a good deal if you do your research... but I have heard some of the items he can't even keep in stock. They go out as soon as they arrive. A couple of us have threatened to buy one of the "Bachelor Chow" buckets just for fun, but we can't bring ourselves to pay $75 between the two of us! :)

He seems to always be selling something.
