Thread: Would you attend a gay marriage ceremony?

  1. #31
It's difficult. I have a gay cousin whom I love very much. He is very private, he has never "come out" to me, but I know he's gay. I also know he has struggled. He is family, and if he got married, I'd attend. Period. If some think that disqualifies me as a Christian, so be it. You can pray for me that I see the light.

I didn't necessarily dislike your post. Up until the above sentence, that is.

I didn't mean anything bad by that. There was an exchange between Femme and Nikos about not being born again if you'd attend a gay wedding. I was playing off of that a little.

Also, if someone does thing I'm really wrong, I would hope that someone would love me enough to pray for me.

I understand how you feel about Nikos' attitude, no problem.

No, I love and respect Nikos. :) I'm ok with his beliefs, they are his beliefs and he is honest about them. I'm sure there are a few others who feel the same way, but keep it to themselves.

    Monkfish. My name is Monkfish.

Of course I understand that. I don't read this forum with my eyes closed, y'know If you've any questions, please, feel free to let me know :)

    "Fish guy"...I kinda like that.

Just an FYI...Monk PM'd me earlier and asked if it was OK if he participated in some areas of this forum that were formerly off limits to non-believers on the older forums we were on. Since he is an older established member and I have never seen him to be rude or hostile I told him to feel free to ask any sincere questions he had, I think most if not all of you would agree that Monk is very welcome here. :)

Absolutely! I assume you're talking Liberian dollars, right? That seems to be about 15 pence. Tell you what, I'll even round it up to 20!

Well, some will, but you've pretty much hit the nail on the head here.

Out of interest, does anyone saying no actually have any gay friends?
I have gay friends.. and living in SoCal I see gay folks every day. (my GayDar is starting to function a bit!)

Now if your daughter decided to shack up with her boyfriend, would you attend the housewarming with gifts? That's a little closer to an accurate comparison.

Supporting an pregnant daughter does not at all equal agreement with her behavior that caused the problem..it is assisting her in moving on from a past sin.

    IMHO
Actually, I have friends who live together. I've been to their houses and shared dinner with them often. I don't expect them to live by my set of conduct rules.

Would I rather they become believers? or if they confess they are, get convicted and stop, you bet. (as it happens that JUST occured with one. He realized he couldn't be doing the behaviours he was, came under conviction BIG time.)

I just really don't see how you can expect people to live by our guidelines. It's not going to happen. And I'm not cutting my self off from, possibly, being able to be one mirror of Jesus to them.

    not happening.
