Many fervent cultists have a startling ability to sound or seem sociable and "normal", someone that people can identify with, then they promote stuff that is of a demonic spirit as if it is equally normal, making themselves deceptive middle men or mediators of the stuff. I've talked to many Mormon door evangelists that are like that. The aim seems to be to get people sucked in before they ask too many questions, to have them buy the slick presentation first then teach them the more gritty details later.
Talking or bullying people into getting into the mindset before bothering to discuss details is a common technique employed by Christians promoting various pet doctrines as well, which always makes me question the true spirit of what they are promoting. Their fervency is often about some spirit that they bought at an emotional level rather than the actual content of what they believe. Sufficient to give people they are bullying a corresponding bout of -itis out of it all.

The trumpetcallofgodonline is more subtle in their recruiting, they just float Timothy letters and curiosity draws recruits in. Pretty heady stuff though to come into the inner circle of the man who hears directly from God on a frequent basis, even writes new scripture. The way he is non-public also gives it the Wizard of Oz effect... Of course all yellow brick roads lead to a mere man behind the curtain.

I suppose it's easier to get people to read material on the internet than it is to knock on doors and have people listen for as long. Making the approach as anonymous as possible helps too.

But like Bookman said, I'll paraphrase.. "get ready, this stuff is going to come like a flood!"

To a fervent follower, looking at the same photo of the man that you and I are looking at may leave him with a very different impression. Actually meeting the man and watching him talk, scratch his back etc may make things even more like that.

One of the masters of the craft was Sai Baba. Parents listened to him rape their small child in the next room then confronted him with it then were talked into forgetting that it happened and declaring his conduct pure in return for being let into his inner circle. What did they see in the man ? Only Sai Baba knew that because Sai Baba was the one who crafted his web of deceit. And the devil possessing him, quite obviously.

Yep, religious manipulation is most insidious. I see it all the time, a man steps on someone and the victim is deficient because he/she won't forgive, etc. It's a nasty loop and a predator paradise.
