I vote for abstinence, like Jesus walked in.

Since we are joint heirs with Christ we can have access to that level of self control.

Those that get married will have trouble in the flesh... I know there are other benefits, but to me it's not worth it when I can fellowship with the Lord and be more fulfilled than all that fleshly stuff. Besides, nobody is as trustworthy as Jesus.

I know, I know... that's just me and I should sit down and shut up.

Yeah, and a trip by the mirror quickly dispels that
Show of hands. Who STILL isn't convinced that Farm Truck is a troll?

Troll = People who do not agree with you lock step.

Since someone doesn't agree with you, one must call them a "troll" like that's supposed to hurt them or something

It's what the internet does... Just because someone posts something you disagree with, does not make them a "troll"... but you can continue believing that if you'd like, it doesn't hurt my feelings either way.

    lol! Wrong again:

    Troll

In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

No show of hands here but I would like to point out that most internet trolls are sociable at all. They may have an agenda, they may be hateful, they may be doing all the things mentioned above, they may even be sociopaths in relation to certain types of people or posters. But they usually have a sense of humor at all and a tendency, though not necessarily a conscious one, to get along with some posters at least to some degree. It is difficult for an internet troll to be a totalitarian. With the few who do pull off the task of being a totalitarian, of being a total sociopath across the board, one wonders if they aren't just trolls in general, offline as well as online. And that that is where they function as most internet trolls do online : they are sociopaths in general, totally deceptive towards their surroundings but not necessarily towards their group(s) of choice. Their home boys, so to speak. Whether that is in prison, among drug sellers or perhaps among peers indulging in the same type of religion. Not that they necessarily cease being offline trolls there either but at least they tend to get along better at least somewhere. Offline that is.
Is there such a thing as a totalitarian offline troll ? In that case the person would be pure evil, or as good as. That's one for the archives but approximations do exist.

I know many of you like to beat up on FT, but if you put aside your frustration with him for a moment, you must admit that this was pretty darn funny

But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

It's all a mute point because after we leave Club Earth there won't be any more marriage:

    Mark 12:25
For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

So, when you hear of an elderly couple where one passes away... and a while later the other passes away and at the funeral they get up and say "well, this couple is reunited in Heaven and will be together for eternity", it's not true according to what Jesus said.

Because... we are going to be married to the Lord which should make Christians rejoice but sadly many reject what Jesus said and still think they will be with their spouse in marriage for ever.

Like lot of other stuff that gets taught in churches these days... it turns out to be incorrect and does not agree with scripture, but whatever... everybody is going to believe whatever it is they want to believe regardless of if it's scriptural or not.

God's Word tells us about that too.
How in the world did my response turn into a discourse on people believing we would be together with our spouses in heaven?! All I did was disagree with you and say that marriage HELPS to keep you from sinning in the flesh.

There will be no marriage, sex, children in heaven. We will do something else and there will be no perceived loss. We will have unlimited fellowship and it doesn't matter how many there will be. During an eternity there will be an eternity to spend with each person, that is the nature of the number infinite.

A talkboard is a venue for exchanging thoughts and ideas... I'm so sorry mine do not meet your approval.

Actually I'm totally not sorry, but in the interest of being nice about it let's play like I am

You posted - " I think Paul says that you'll have MORE trouble with your flesh if you don't marry"

I posted some scriptures related to the subject being discuss... so, what's the problem???

If you don't like those scriptures then please disregard.
