Cremation?
I noticed that Lion Heart said in another thread that he wishes to be cremated after death. I want to be cremated as well...simply because it's so much cheaper, and I'm always trying to save money. My Dad though says he absolutely will not be cremated. He thinks if he does then he won't "rise in the resurrection." Has anyone else ever heard this, or believe this?

I've heard of it and the responses to it.
We are going to be cremated mainly because of the cost. I have also done quite a bit of research of the embalming and prep done to bodies for traditional burial, and I see it as a desecration of the body. If one just can't accept cremation there is the option of not embalming the body, although I'm sure a lot of folks would consider that tacky. In OK, it is not required to embalm. I see the huge cost of funerals and all that goes with the traditional prep of the body as a huge waste of money. I'm in no way promoting being disrespectful of the person deceased.

It doesn't determine salvation or if you won't be resurrected, but it's not a Christian practice. It's what the pagans always did

Christians were eaten by lions and God will resurrect them so ashes is no big deal.

I suppose this falls under the Romans 14 category where if people sincerely believe it to amount to a pagan practice then they shouldnt.

For all you guys that want to be cremated, what do you want done with your ashes? Put them in an urn and give them to someone...inter them in a cemetery...scatter them somewhere or something else?

As far as I know, we are going to Ft. Sill Nat. Cemetery. There you can scatter the ashes or use the columbarium.
