That's totally illogical. All I'm saying is that heterosexuality is the default.

Ah, but the Christian who is same-sex attracted would note that you're saying that because it was your default. They would reply that just as you never "chose" heterosexuality because it was "natural" to you, so too did they not "choose" homosexuality. It was their default in a fallen world and that would be true whether they were "born that way" or because they simply developed homosexually as a child based on the reasons in my earlier post in this thread. The same-sex attracted Christians I've worked with will tell you that they never "abandoned" heterosexuality. It was never theirs to abandon.

That is a possibility but I do not believe that it is ever the case at depth. At least not where the physical sex is clear from birth.

It's often described as the child rejecting (or feeling rejected by) the same sex parent and bonding more naturally with the opposite sex parent. Many gay men report having had strong mothers and disinterested or absent fathers. Many gay women reject their femininity because they have observed it as weakness. This is especially true when the mother was abused by the husband. Also, a high percentage of lesbian women report they were molested as girls. As a result, they reject their femininity in order to avoid being abused by men again. As I said, this is certainly not in all cases. Many gay men had great fathers and many lesbian women loved their mothers. It's just a pattern that is more common among SSA people than in the general public.
So it falls back to renewing your mind to the things of God which reminds me of a thread from a few months ago regarding the testimony of Dennis Jernigan:

Which in turn reminds me of the teachings of Dr Caroline Leaf on how to fix your brain:

Any human being is basically capable of absolutely anything, the potentiality is found in the carnal nature. Some people have specific weaknesses but it comes down to how things are allowed to develop and how one chooses to act upon it. This includes children.

Yes, but try to imagine how it would be if you were told your heterosexuality was sinful and you now needed to think homosexually. Just saying "renew your mind" sounds good--and it's correct--but many Christians dealing with SSA will tell you how hard it is. Particularly so among the young 20-somethings. I'm part of a group that prays for these young men and women, many of whom despair of their life and some who simply give up and go back to the gay life.

Youre working with the premise that it works the same way on both "sides". I dont accept that at all. With some things a deeper sanctification is needed to take hold of the problem. If one disbelieves that there is a normal sexual inclination found at depth then this will be impossible because there will be no faith to propel that with and defeat is certain. Or a status quo where self restraint is as far as victory can go.

The important thing is to not start acting out on the attraction in the first place. I think that's why Fuego used the term, "seed stage".

My friend Chris, who I refer to a lot, and is now an avowed atheist (again), didn't start acting out until he was in his mid 30s after he found gay porn. He had same sex attractions that were there, but minimal. But once that door was opened, he cannot seem to keep it shut.

My son, who experienced same-sex attractions (but really doesn't now at all, and he's quite open about it), never acted on them, and is walking pretty delivered. Like I said, he does hold himself accountable and is very open about his struggles. That is not to say that he doesn't get tempted or whatever, just that his never acting on the temptations in the first place made it 1000% easier to overcome.

I think this is key. The problem is, nowadays, culture and even "church" people will tell you it's ok to be gay, let your freak flag fly, etc......and they start at very young ages. That's the problem with anyone, Christian or non, to overcome this.
