Disabled woman denied a tow because she supports Bernie Sanders

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — A legally disabled woman stranded on the side of the road was denied a tow because she had a Bernie Sanders bumper sticker, according to WTVD.

Ken Shupe of Shupee Max Towing in Traveler's Rest, South Carolina, said he was fine with his choice.

"Something came over me. I think the Lord came to me, and he just said get in the truck and leave," Shupe said. "And when I got in my truck, you know, I was so proud, because I felt like I finally drew a line in the sand and stood up for what I believed."

The driver, Cassy McWade, suffers from Crohn's disease, fibromyalgia and arthritis, and could not get her regular mechanic to come to her aid after a crash left her stranded on the highway.

She has a Bernie Sanders sticker on her rear bumper.

McWade said that Shupe started to prepare her car for towing, but later said, "I can't tow you."

"My first instinct was, 'There must be something wrong with the car,'" McWade told WLOS. "And he says, 'No, you're a Bernie supporter.' And I was ,like, 'Wait, really?' And he says, 'Yes ma'am,' and just walks away."

Shupe argued that Sanders supporters in the past have failed to pay their bills and he had decided that he was done doing business with them.

He later told WTVD that he would have stood by his decision even if he had known McWade was disabled.

That's crazy. It brings reproach to the name of Christ too. I'd guess that the man has a demon and the demon told him to do that.

Would the Good Samaritan have changed his mind if the victim he helped had a Bernie Sanders sticker on his backpack? Of course not.

That's like yelling at the kid behind the counter at the Apple store because the company does business in the Middle East. It only proves that you're the horse's behind.

Proud because he drew a line in the sand.... Wrong beach, idiot.

"Shupe argued that Sanders supporters in the past have failed to pay their bills and he had decided that he was done doing business with them."

So it wasn't just because she supported him per se, but due to the connection he makes between Sanders supporters and how they do business. Not agreeing, just pointing out there's a little more to it.

And if you do it don't say God told you to and reproach Christianity.

I guess the driver didn't hear God telling him to love his neighbor?

From a FOX article with a little different info:

A tow truck driver in North Carolina said that when he discovered a stranded motorist was an enthusiastic supporter of Bernie Sanders, he declined to help her.

When Kenneth Schupe arrived on the scene in Asheville, he was dismayed to find a "bunch of Bernie Sanders stuff" on and inside the woman's vehicle.

He said he told the woman "very politely" that he couldn't tow her because she was "obviously a socialist." He advised her to "call the government" for a tow instead.

"Every business dealing in recent history with a socialist-minded person I have not gotten paid," he told Fox Carolina. "I own the truck. The sign of my truck says 'Shupe,' it doesn't say 'freebie.' And every time I deal with these people I get 'Berned' -- with an 'e' not a 'u'."

Shupe says he's a conservative Christian who supports Donald Trump. An attorney told Fox Carolina that political affiliation is not a protected class, so Shupe violated no laws by choosing not to tow her.

Have to admit that one made me chuckle a little.

Classic example of the mentality behind the Trump cult.
