A word I've never seen before

Ok. I was reading a political article and the young woman, a Member of Parliament in the Canadian Legislature, is discussing the sexism she has to deal with as a woman in politics.

    In one paragraph she says:

I'm fortunate, though. I haven't had to overcome obstacles that many other women face. I have a romantic partner who isn't emasculated by my success, and enthusiastically encourages me to pursue my aspirations. I've worked for and with employers who have done the same. I'm in a position of authority. I haven't had to raise children as a single woman. I haven't had to raise children, period. I'm cisgender, straight, and white. My body mass index doesn't exceed 25. I'm not an immigrant. I've never been in an abusive relationship. I'm fortunate enough to have had a steady job throughout most of my working life. I could go on, and on, and on.

Ok......... I had to stop reading and google "cisgender."

Has anyone else run across this word?

Cisgender is a label for those whose experiences of their own gender agree with the sex they were assigned at birth. It may also be defined as those who have "a gender identity or perform a gender role society considers appropriate for one's sex." It is a complement to the term transgender.

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
    (Psalm 1)

Right. So why does one have to even state that they are NON transgender?

There used to be a word for it but I guess it's not politically correct to simply call one's self "Normal."

There will always be sexual predators that will qualify for the same restroom as their victims, no matter what the designations are. The physical gender designations lower the probability somewhat but they do not remove the stranger factor. I think the only solution would be to have only family restrooms, meaning that noone in the same bathroom would be strangers to each other.

The people arguing the sexual predator stand in Blogs, in the news and on FB are only being heard as trans-phobic, saying that trans people are not going to harm the women and children. Well, I agree with that...

Try to get it through their thick heads that this has NOTHING to do with real trans people. I understand, especially, that men identifying as women in men's restrooms are subject to violence. I get that. As you say, Colonel, it's the PREDATORS who already ARE and WILL CONTINUE to use this as a way to prey on their targets. But do you think some people can see that??? No. All they see is the perceived predjudice against the trans people.

If the laws were to stay the same, if I saw a man dressed as a woman just going about his business in a ladies' washroom, I'd probably be alert to make sure he was just there to use the bathroom and make sure he wasn't there as a wolf in she's clothing.... but really, it wouldn't be that big of a deal to me. Raised eyebrows maybe... spidey senses heightened ... I'm not trans-phobic. I'm predator phobic.

I have grand children. I want them safe.

Yes, a term used by neutered, wussified, millenials who were always told they were special snowflakes and were breastfed until they were 10. People! This is what happens when you don't let your children eat dirt, never let them out of your sight, ride a bike without a helmet and fight all their battles for them. These are chickens who were helped out of their eggs rather than allowed to hatch naturally! Now we have to put up with their nonsense!
