Creflo Dollar's June trip to Scotland comes under fire

Megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar's upcoming trip to Scotland is drawing heat.

The Rev. David Robertson, moderator of the Free Church of Scotland, said Dollar's teaching and lifestyle are "the last thing Scotland needs — and is contrary to the Gospel of Jesus."

Dollar, founder and senior pastor of World Changers Church International, is scheduled to be at Destiny Church locations in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, beginning June 10, according to The Christian Post and publications in Scotland. His wife, Taffi Dollar, is also scheduled to speak in Scotland that month.

Creflo Dollar's website last year asked for $65 million in donations for a new private jet. The webpage was quickly taken down.
Robertson, who also serves as director of the Solas Centre for Public Christianity, responded to several emailed questions from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Free Church of Scotland, which is an evangelical Presbyterian church, has 15,000 members and adherents. Destiny Ministries is described on its website as a "contemporary apostolic movement."

Robertson, of course, can't keep the televangelist from Scotland even if he disagrees with his prosperity gospel message, which he equates to "blasphemy."

"He is free to come," Robertson said. "We are not asking him to be banned. We believe in free speech and we are using it to critique his message and methodology. Most people who have heard of him probably regard him as a spoof/joke. A tele evangelist (sic) called Dollar who asks his congregation to buy him a $60 million private jet! You could not make it up."

Officials from Destiny Church could not be reached for comment.

However, Vic Bolton, a spokesman for the World Changers ministry, said Dollar would speak at the conference in Scotland as planned .

"It's our intention to fulfill our commitment and, hopefully, be a blessing to those in attendance," Bolton said. "We don't care to speculate on what sounds like a local, competitive or political matter. Where there are humans, there will be divisions and differences."

I wonder what message would be sent if just one of the "jet set" ministers had sold their jet and given all the money to the poor then travelled business class with their team in the coach section ?

Well I am giving him a chance to deny himself in some way, for the glory of his King.

Don't get me wrong, I seldom watch him. I don't ever watch anyone teach on money. I was thoroughly disgusted with the jet fiasco. I actually watch very little Christian programing, but now and then I find a good program while scanning the dial.

I am sure I often come across as somewhat closed minded on certain issues, but I do listen to good balanced teaching.

    I totally agree!

as long as those n the church continue to support this nonsense with these televangelists the more it will continue. when you quit putting money into their coffers and believing their hype they will go away. otherwise it will only get worse.... my 2 cents worth...
