    charismatic groupies...

while i just got back from a conference i noticed and my wife commented on it the followers some of these speakers have who go where they go. my wife labeled them charismatic groupies. i mite even blog on this..... some of the characteristics of a charismatic groupie we noticed...

1-they save whole sections of seats for their entourage as they r adamant n seeing their favorite apostle/prophet/pastor. they get very upset if someone sits n one of their seats almost aggressive...

2-they cheer and shout wildly when their idol makes a point (whether it is true or not) and talk about it causing others to b distracted during the meeting....

3-during offering time they stampede up to the platform throwing their money and checks at their idol after being worked n2 a frenzy about the returns on their tithes and offerings..... (they even danced on the money n their excitement..... which i found slightly bizarre...)

4-they demand better seats up front to see better because they do not like where they are seating AND someone took one of their saved seats......

4-they talk about the next conference coming down the pike and how they will b attending post haste..... they never miss one... (again kinda of bizarre to me)

5-as soon as their idol announces their new book, cd, dvd etc... they rush to the in house bookstore to get a copy AND a autograph! kinda of like a herd of cattle coming n from the range....

6-their want desperately a personal prophetic word from their idol..... (its sad really)

there's more but this is what we observed. not everyone does this but its sad 4 the one's that do...

Why dont you just focus on how you can get the word out and help people instead of focusing on other peoples negatives real or perceived ?

Were the charismatic Groupies the only thing you saw or learned at the conference ?

There's immaturity in all Christian denominations/sects. I do tend to agree with BAP.....if you look hard enough, or even cast a glance, you'll see it glaringly obvious to all. The Lord sees, and still loves the zeal, though. Give people time to grow, and they will probably see it too, at some point.

Doesn't matter. God can work it out.

I can testify to that...I wasn't as bad as Wheeze described, but while living in Tulsa I did get caught up in some of that..the atmosphere in certain pente/charis churches/ministries (at the time) sorta promoted that kind of "zeal". I don't know how it is there now tho.

Charismatic groupies ... They come to our church, too. It's definitely a "thing" though I do get what BAP and Catchy are pointing out.

We have had to calm a few women down (and one time, had to stand guard at the door) because with some speakers groupies become creepy stalkers.

What I want to know is this - these folks tend to get to 6-10 major out of state conferences a year, with an average stay of 3-5 nights per trip. They usually drive and tend to have decent cars, stay at nicer hotels, have nicer clothes. I've always wondered what they do for work/where they get their money? Sometime I'm going to ask.

Successful business owners or their spouses is one probable category. I used to talk to one from the US about 20 years ago but she wasnt a groupie.
