I think they merely figured out how to include a carnal element and then have an excuse for it. As if Herods version of Christmas deserves any kind of attention. Nope, what they wanted was some sexy cabaret stuff included in their show.

I wondered about that too but then I saw in the youtube comments where someone said that if you watch the whole show you'll see the sequence of events.

If you start around the 15:10 mark the new scene begins:

It looks like what Krystian said was accurate

Don't know why the audience cheered the performance when they know it was a song for Herod '

Well, that's not what I'm saying. Why didn't the emcee, at the beginning of the show, explain exactly what was going on....that's what I'm saying. TT makes an excellent point. Why the cheering and jeering if people knew it was, "for Herod"? The explanation somewhat makes sense. I want to give the benefit of the doubt, but there are many holes in the theory.

The ppl at the performance probably were able to follow it without explanation. I believe that all criticism came when the Silent Night jazz performance was posted online, out of context.

With all due respect, without any explanation at all, I just have a hard time believing people would just "get it", but that's just me.

Isn't this the same Hillsong church where their pastor was caught lying that he had no idea that their NYC church had gay peoples singing on the music team? And this same pastor saying he is evolving on the gay thing as though God did not spell out exactly what His position is on homosexuality?

If so, then sexy dancing girls is par for course... or, were those transvestites maybe?

It's end times christianity, so one never knows!

Besides... who turns off the lights and makes it dark in their church during worship service anyway?

Don't they know this does not accurately portray the Kingdom of God in which there is NO darkness at all?

This is where we prove computers are evil; we used to have our songs on printed sheets then in book form, then came overheads and then powerpoint and then specialist software. In the old days we added lighting to the room so that we could read the song books, now we darken the room so that we can read the screen. Without computers we wouldn't be there so obviously computers are evil.

Exactly! Mr Curly and I were talking on the way to dinner about this. Today's spiritually ignorant unsaved folks, especially the young, have to have a big pop for entertainment and to keep their attention. It takes the sensational to speak to them and most of the current generation are totally clueless about God except to continually use OMG. Jesus Christ is just an expletive for many of the world.

The Mrs was watching Sister Act recently and they played that line there too; when <whoever she was> had the nuns singing upbeat music youth started coming into the church.

But is this what we (or God) want(s)? Do we want people hanging round just cause they like the form of the music; 50 years ago "The Children of God" used sex to keep the guys around, but do we want boys at our youth meetings who are there just to pick up birds? I know a father who was very disappointed, he encouraged his very attractive daughters to go to youth group but as they got hit on there just as much as at a club they stopped going.
