For me, it is all about Jesus. Then again, while I have struggled with many temptations, alcohol has never been one of them so I don't know how qualified I am to speak on this subject. But I will say that if a person cannot do it and fellowship with Christ at the same time, they might want to reconsider it.
And that is just the point...I can because I have no conviction against it..I could easily sip a glass of wine during prayer time..or have a cup of coffee ..

Having that gin and tonic makes the article author feel less Christ-like. The problem is that she attempts to transfer her emotions over to others and that is a form of judgmentalism. The Bible tells those who eat and drink not to judge those who don't but also the other way around and she should take heed of that. I don't feel any less Christ-like from drinking one gin and tonic or similar. Or drinking a glass of beer then reading my Bible then drinking another glass of beer. To use her example.

We had a history (my grandma's grandparents and a few others along the line)... it seems there's usually one in each generation.
Although, our current generation the "one" is a married into.. interesting..
The rest of us can have a drink and be fine. I, personally, enjoy a couple of things that I actually like the taste.. but, as a general rule, I don't drink. Partly because in BSF leadership they ask us to be very careful.. and I take that seriously.
But, I don't expect others to not because of me, and they never try to pressure me to join in.

How sad to see that people who say they are Christians actually imbibe this evil drug. God please send a revival of holiness and turn men and women from this wicked drink that hurts so many lives.

Some quotes from "A Guide to the Myths and Realities of Alcoholism" (http://www.lakesidemilam.com/alcohol...of-alcoholism/)
Alcohol's pharmacological effects change with the amount drunk. In small quantities, alcohol is a stimulant. In large quantities, alcohol acts as a sedative. (never seen that before)
Alcohol is selectively addictive drug; it is addictive for only a minority of its users, namely, alcoholics. Most people can drink occasionally, daily, even heavily, without becoming addicted to alcohol. Others (alcoholics) will become addicted no matter how much they drink.
Alcoholics can never safely return to drinking because drinking in any amount will sooner or later reactivate their addiction.
So really the first reason should have been (IMO) "Because I'm an alocholic"

Never heard this before. Sounds like she still hasn't come to grips with the reality in her own life. Might be why it is easy for her to force her reality upon others.
