Opposite sex friends
Do you think it's appropriate to have friends of the opposite sex, if you are married or in a committed relationship?

Depends on how long they've been your friend, were they your friend before you got married, the level of intimacy in the friendship and whether your spouse trusts them to not cross lines. I would be very suspicious of a man who pursues me as a "friend" when I'm married, wanting one on one meetings.

This is definitely not a hypothetical situation...it's a re-hash of an old thread that I remembered. I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were.

Yes as long as everything is open, honest and accountable and there are no secrets from your spouse
Certain things like going to the movies together is unacceptable even if your spouse didn't mind

That's the beauty of having all of our old posts wiped out....we can re-visit the ones that we would like to, and have a fresh new discussion!

I think anytime you're alone for a long period with a member of the opposite sex you're asking for trouble.

I've always had guy friends.. ever since I was in highschool.
The only way I make "new" guy friends is online.. and they always know my discussions are all known to D. As long as that's not a problem, I'm fine.. if it is.. out you go.

If they are gay opposite sex friends then you can go to the movies, get lunch, do your hair , paint your nails and your husband won't be concerned spending the whole day together
