Be Educated on Socialism
I watched this video and got a very sick feeling in my stomach. I lived for over 20 years in Canada and so many of the things Kitty Werthmann describes are just so commonplace in Canada. But even more chilling are that I see some of the things she relates happening right now! One of them is the "assembly line" healthcare that I receive from my family doctor. I experienced that in Ontario (Canada) -- socialized medicine/universal health care does NOT work well at all.
I know you are unindated with videos and messages, but this one bears listening to.

It is important to note that if you live in the USA and participate in the Medicare program (government health care for people over 65), then you are participating in socialized medicine.

If I recall correctly, for the entire 44 years that I was gainfully employed, I paid into Medicare, soooo, as far as I'm concerned, the guvment was just "holding" that money for me, until I retired.

I feel like we've sped right past socialism straight to Marxism.

What I've read is that contributions to Medicare cover only a small fraction of its expenses. So those of us in the Medicare program are being subsidized by other taxpayers. Personally, I have no problem whatsoever paying higher taxes to provide elderly people with affordable healthcare. Ensuring that everyone's basic needs are addressed is a sign of a civilized society, and I'd rather live in a civilized society than in the jungle.
Column: Who’s paying the true cost of Medicare | PBS NewsHour
It turns out that Medicare payroll taxes fully fund Part A hospital expenses (together with your share of uncovered Part A expenses), but that is literally where the buck stops. Expenses for Parts B, C (Medicare Advantage) and D (prescription drugs) are paid mostly by Uncle Sam, to the tune of nearly $250 billion. And this is, by the way, not a fixed line item in the federal budget but more of a blank check every year.
...
So while I not only support and respect seniors, and in fact have become a member of the seniors' club myself, please do not attempt to blow smoke on me or anyone else by saying that you've paid for your Medicare. You haven't, and I haven't either. I happen to think my tax dollars are relatively well spent by Medicare and that supporting the health needs of older Americans is one of the best things this country and government do. But it doesn't come close to paying for itself, and the gap will get larger and larger as baby boomers inevitably succumb to the realities of aging bodies and rising health care expenses.

And by the way, since we all support the socialist Medicare system and the socialist Social Security system, I'll be happy to take your orders for Che Guevara T-shirts.

I'll take 3. They make good targets for my .45
In fact, I'll take 5 if you put a bullseye on them.
